JR train from minato to kyoto

Hello,

What is the best way to go to Kyoto from Minato ( Tokyo Grand hotel ) with the JR rail pass? How long is the train journey and is it worth going for one day?

Thank you.

It's really difficult to answer that question because it depends on your personal interests. If there is something in Kyoto you are passionate about seeing or experiencing, then yes. If you just want to "see Kyoto" then you might well be disappointed.

If you are interested in seeing famous old structures such as temples and shrines, or traditional crafts, then a visit to Kamakura from Tokyo would be a lot closer and the sites there are certainly worth the short train ride to get there.
