Best entrance to Tsukiji market

Hi, I want to queue up at 4:30am to have the best chances of seeing the tuna auction, but where's the entrance that one needs to be at by 4:30am? Thanks.

Hi - just saw that one of the rules at the fish market is not to bring 'small children' - do children aged 5yrs and 8yrs count as small? Anyone taken kids there? Anyone taken kids to the Tuna auction?

Thanks!

found this on http://justjapan.his-j.com/en/option/572 - not sure how ironclad it is, but I think the underlying point here is that it's a working environment

* Groups with children under 5 years of age cannot enter certain parts of the market.

* Large pieces of luggage such as baby strollers and suitcases cannot be taken inside of the market.

* Those wearing sandals or high-heels will not be allowed to enter the market.

Sneakers or other walking shoes are recommended.

8 and 5yo kids are way too small for the tuna auction. If your kids talk during the auction, that will distract the auctioneers. A few years ago, the auction was suspended to all tourists indefinitely because of thoughtless behaviors by a few tourists, i. e. using flashlights for taking pictures, bringing luggage and small children, etc. Please don't let that happen again.

The inner market is not a safe place for kids anyway as many carts go everywhere in high speed.

The entrance is by the bridge. At 4:20am there were only 4 admission jackets left. Might have been a busy day.

We got there at 4:40 and were way too late as lots of other tourists had already been turned away.

2013 Tsukiji Market calendar (avoid the red days, the blue days are open):

tsukiji-market.or.jp/etc/calendar/2013.html

Several posters have indicated recently that one needs to get to Tsukiji to register for the tuna auction by 4am.
