Where to stay

We are a couple in our mid 50s and are unsure as to where to stay, we were thinking of the San Juan beach area north of the city or stay in or around the city itself. We like taking walks along the promenade which looks more likely around the beach area but is there anything open in the first week of November in that area?

We're of a similar age and with a similar interest (as well as eating out and nipping up and down the coast on the tram), going to Alicante in a couple of weeks. We've booked an apartment through Air BnB near the Mercado Central.

Unless you have mobility problems, Alicante is easy to get about on foot. We'll be in the heart of the city but the promenade is just a few minutes walk away. And every walk will reveal new interesting things you wouldn't encounter if you just stayed on the front. As it's a city and not a tourist resort, most of the bars and restaurants will stay open year-round.

We didn't book a hotel as we intend to eat out all the time and found the apartment a better deal.

It's also very easy to get from the airport to the city (and points beyond, by bus and then tram if you stay further north of the city itself.

Everything is open in Alicante, it's not a touristy town. I suggest you stay near the city centre, plenty of options to eat out, sightseeing and the beach is quite close. Alicante beach is small and can get crowded in summer, but it should be ok in November. (and by the looks of it, it will still be 20-25 degrees as it is right now!)

We are currently staying in the Eurostars Lucentum. Great Central location - 5 - 10 minutes walk to the sea front and harbour with plenty of cafes restaurants and bars along the way. Tram station 5 minutes walk away for exploring.
