There is a very good Pharmacy at the Nakumatt Complex in Nyali - about 5-10 mins away.

Most tourists would get a cab but if you are feeling brave try the local matatus (minibuses) or even a piki-piki - Motorcycle 'taxi'.

If going into Mombasa Town negotiate a 'fee' with a local taxi driver. they will drop you off and pick you up at pre-arranged time (or take you on a tour) - far cheaper than Tour Operators will charge.

Yes there is a Chemist at Bamburi Beach, in the row of shops between the Total filling station and Cheers bar, (click on 'Pharmacy - Bamburi Beach' in the index of the map in the FAQs on the right of the forum. Shaban and Unik who offer the best exchange rates in the area are also in this row of shops)

Are you being transferred by your tour agent, or do you want a taxi? How long it takes depends on time of day, and if you are having a tour agent transfer, how many hotels they drop off at before yours. It should take between 45 mins to an hour. A taxi until recently would cost around 1,700 to 1,800 /- but petrol went up around 15% overnight last week so prices will have increased as a result.

At a local bar a water or soda will be around 50/-, a beer between 130 and 200/- depending on the bar, (Kahama do a happy hour 5 to 8 where Tusker Malt and Vodka kick are 95/-) you can get a bar meal for between 350 and 750/-, a pizza will cost between around 500 and 1,000/- depending on restaurant. A main course at lovely restaurants like Moorings, La Marina and Monsoons will cost in the region of 800 to 1,300/- (La Marina is slightly more expensive than the other two and Monsoons also do pasta which is cheaper than this). The fantastic home made ice cream at Yul's on the beach will cost around 500 - 600/- for a knickerbocker glory type dish.

Prices in hotels will be higher, but as I hardly ever drink in them I couldn't give you the prices.
