Hope to do lots of walking, visit Granada and maybe ski in the sierra nevada though complete beginners, Don.t know iif any restaurants will be open in the area or if there will be any village markets ect. We are tthen moving to Almunecar for another 4/6 wks so any info about there would also be welcome.

Hi Liz,

For walking, have a look at our website on walking in the Sierra Nevada mountains:

We've got quite a few walks in the Lecrin valley, and lots of other walks that would be easily accessible if you have a car.

The Sierra Nevada ski resort opened for the season at the end of last week, so I'm sure it will be possible to ski while you're here. If you go midweek it shouldn't be too busy. It takes around an hour do drive from the Lecrin valley to the ski station.

There are lots of fairly traditional bar/restaurant places in the villages in the Lecrin valley, and I'm sure there must be occasional markets. For authentic and not-so-authentic local handicrafts, the villages in the Alpujarras are better. From Beznar it's a relatively short drive to the Alpujarras, depending on which town/village you want to get to. You're also only a short drive from the coast.

Obviously there's lots to see and do in Granada, including a much wider range of restaurants than you'll find in the villages.
