Any news from Panglao Island post tsunami?

Hope the island wasn't damaged too much from Yolanda. How is everyone holding up? Made plans to be there in 9 days but haven't cancelled, to support the economy. Was thinking about bringing a bag full of clothes to donate.

No one can know the weather for sure. May is still considered dry season so generally should be ok but it is also the tail end of summer.

As for where to stay, you will need to let us knowyour budget and what are you expecting.

Golden Palma Alona indeed got some really nice review. Could you suggest something else as well? What about advice on what to do in Bohol and on the isle? It would be great to have advice. Thank you!

By the way, from Europe we booked Air China Southern to get to Manila. Any opinion on that? Did you ever travelled with them? It would be nice to know if it's good or not. Please share your thoughts!

@ Erika

May - June may have some rains as it is the commencement of monsoons. Expect a rainy day or two in a week of sunshine. Very less chance of a typhoon.

Alona beach is lined with good resorts. I suggest you use this map of Bohol bikers

boholbikers.com/undergroup%20pages/map/map%2…

then check out each resort marked along the beach -

on TA

on Facebook (most resorts keep facebook pages which are filled with phoots - far more than websites)

on their website (again, only a few resorts maintain websites - their fb pages are far more up to date)

and then decide. The tone of their fb pages / websites and the room photos tell you a lot. Many resorts have a strong Scandinavian / German / Austrian bent which is apparent and visible in their furnishings and menu.
