Driving around Coronado

We will be renting in Coronado for six weeks and wondering about driving to and from restaurants in the area after dark? We are used to going for a walk in the evenings, will it be safe to do this after dark? From what I have been reading this is a pretty safe area, as is most of Panama. Any tips or advice about best grocery, bakery, fruit and vegetable places, banking and liquor + wine stores. Fresh fish (any seafood )??? We will be there middle of January. Thanks

Driving to and from restaurants in the area after dark is not a problem. There aren't many street lights, so just be careful, especially when walking at night. Use your common sense regarding safety.

There are a number of strip malls that have sprung up along the autopista near the entrance to Coronado. There is an El Rey and across the street a Super 99. They are supermarkets and have everything you asked about. A few doors down on the Coronado road is a bakery and there are venders selling fresh fruit and vegetables as well. There is a liquor and wine store just west of the Super 99 at the next stripmall on the north side. But, you can also get liquor, beer and wine at the El Rey and the Super 99. (Usually cheaper, too.) Both El Rey and Super 99 have good selections of Chilean and Argentinian wines -- much cheaper than in the U.S. or Canada.

Restaurants: -Cholos for Mexican food and fresh ambient and cold beers, located at Las Lajas street 2 minutes driving from coronado -La Teca: nice restaurant in the area, great food great Ambient is located at the Machetazo mall.- Pizza Picasso, party ambient. Inside Coronado condos.

Grocery in order by price and quality: Riba Smith $$$$ El rey $$$ Super 99 $$ El Machetazo $ (best options in low prices and quality)

In Coronado not other locations.

Close Coronado you have amazing options for rain forests, lakes, waterfalls, rivers, and beautiful beach spots.

Sounds great, thanks for all the information. Can you give me a sense of what the weather will be like in January and February (humidity ,heat, wind, rain) ? We are going on to Grand Bahamas for March so trying to pack for both climates. gb_williams we would like to pick you're brain about best snorkelling and hiking places and generally things to see and do. We plan day trips as well as overnight ones. Asking a lot of you but would appreciate your insight. Thanks again.... coveside198
