What is Porto Petro like?

I am a single traveller. Has anyone been to Porto Petro and are there many restaurants and is a car necessary. I am thinking of staying in Hostal Varadero. Any replies greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Porto Petro is not a fishing village. There are a few small local boats that fish along the coast but no big vessels.

The charming marina is full of leisure craft and local Llaut's. There are several good restaurants with prices at both ends of the scale.

Go for it, you will not be disappointed.

I am sorry to disagree with crazy pom - mi amigo, but, Porto Petro

has lots of fishing boats including their daily catch of fabulous fish and

shell fish, mussels etc for lunch. Call into their local restaurants for lunch

and enjoy their local 'catch of the day'

Hey HRH, I did mention the smaller fishing vessels (Llaut's) that fish along the coast but Porto Petro is not a fishing town like Cala Figuera or Porto Colum for instance that have large steel bottom dredging and drift net fishing vessels.

I would agree with the shell fish and mussels for lunch, great when washed down with a cold beer.

Take care

There is some great seafood in Porto Petro but also steak and other options are widely available and also the restaurant C'an Martina does a beautiful Lasagna for 6Euros- I used to go there every week when I lived in Cala Egos 5 minutes away.

Porto Petro is gorgeous for complete chill out...

Enjoy!
