We've used much advice from TA so thought i'd comment on Canary Resort.Mui Ne
We are here for three nights(Oct 2009)2 kids 12 & 15yrs.
Sea-view bungalow US$65 +$5 for extra mattress.(includes buffet b'fast with great variety. )
We really do have a beachfront, seaview room with aircon, fridge etc. Security guard on duty all day on beach for leaving stuff on sun lounges etc.
Two big beds, clean comfy. Ensuite bathroom good. It's not a traditional bungalow, more motel room but very nice with plenty of space and balcony.
Internet & computer access in hotel lobby. Wi-fi doesn't work in some rooms.
Still plenty of small local 'shops' for drinks, ice cream etc.
Very nice, clean pool with 'swim up bar' , also beach front bar.
Safer beach for kids, not so steep/deep as @ other resorts
The resort is 5km from 'main action' , taxis @ only 11000VD/km.
No 'atmosphere' mainly due to very few patrons.
Most staff have very limited English, but reception not too bad.
Restaurant meals okay, moderate prices, large range but not for gourmets(we don't mind)
The beach(waters edge/sand) is not always super tidy/clean all the time (washed up debris)due to proximity to local fishing village, and lounges etc are a bit 'tired'.
One Hassle-the extra mattress (for our 6'2" 75kg son) was only 5-6cm thick!!! foam. It took much persuasion/arguing to get decent mattress for the 2nd/3rd nites but we finally did.
No equipment hire available-kitesurf, jet ski etc
Not bad but beaches seem nicer in 'main action' centre due to more 'grooming'.
Rooms good, breakfast very good for families with older kids esp, pool excellent, location quiet, service adequate.
Hope this is helpful, feel free to ask for more info.
