Whitehouse in November? Busy?

Me and my Fiance are considering Whitehouse for our honeymoon this November, likely in the middle of the month. We went to Mexico around the same time and enjoyed that it was quiet, but found a lot of events (nightlife, performances, excursions) were cancelled due to lack of people.

Is this a problem at Whitehouse too? We want to do one or two excursions and would love to enjoy the performances and events, but are afraid, especially since whitehouse is so secluded, that nothing will be available and we'll be trapped there.

Whitehouse is almost always full but that does not guarantee that people will sign up for the same excursions that you are interested in. Weather is always a possible factor in outside activities - especially if you travel during the hurricane season, which extends until November 30th in the Caribbean.

That said, if you have about a week's vacation, there will be so many indoor activities, restaurants and nightlife options (martini bar, evening entrainment, etc.) that you would not repeat a single thing in a 7-10 night stay.

You might want to consider staying at 1 of the Sandals in Montego Bay; that way you'll have 3 resorts to choose from/enjoy. Far more excursions are in/from that area, too. You also have the added benefit of only being about 5 minutes from the airport, so you have more vacation time.

All that being the case, Whitehouse is a gorgeous resort, and the beach and seclusion are really romantic highlights.

Thanks! Yeah i understand it's quite secluded, we are only likely doing 1 or 2 excursions so the seclusion isn't a big deal as long as the usual on-site stuff is still running. In Mexico we were dissapointed that every on-site thing (performances, special food nights etc..) were all cancelled even though the weather was great.

We have been to a different Sandals for the past five years the same week- second full week in November and have only had one excursion cancelled due to lack of people and that was the Reading Road Trip last year in Negril. We will be there Nov 9-16. Is that your week also?

We were at SWH in November (9-16th) and the occupancy hovered between 94% - 100%. Excursions do rely on the numbers of people signing up, but if the coming November is the same high occupancy as this past one, it shouldn't be a concern. You will also have lots of entertainment choices day and evening.

Have fun!

If you're staying a week, no problem. You won't even get to see and do all that happens at the WH in just a week. Plus, with one or two excursions you will be very busy.

And you can always book your own excursion using one of the many drivers recommended here. See The List, Private Drivers/Taxis & tours in Whitehouse/Negril/MBJ/OR area, mentioned in the upper right corner of this page. That way you can have a private tour, customized to what you want at usually a cheaper price, and it wont get cancelled!

We have travelled the first week of November to many different Sandals, and occupancy has varied from about 56% to completely full. However, we have had a hurricane hit the island right around Halloween two of those times, so also be sure to get trip insurance! One with a cancel for any reason waiver would be best. Better to be safe than sorry! :)

so very true as BSBgirl mentions...trip insurance is very important! We were lucky with our weather in November...I think it only rained on one day over a 10 night stay and that was when we were travelling from SRC to SWH. But it could have been worse...Hurricane Sandy had hit less than 2 weeks prior to our trip.

Hurricane Sandy hit the week before our trip, and SGR reopened on the day of our arrival :(

On the bright side, we had the resort pretty much to ourselves the first day, and it was pretty sparse the next few days, too!
