Car rental company

Am visiting Grand Cayman April 6-14, 2012 and need to rent a car for 4 adults plus 5 bags. Any recommendations?

My advice is to find the lowest price for your needs, knowing that certain places (e.g. Andy's and others) may have older, more worn cars.

This link lists most of your rental options, excluding the new Sixt franchise, but unfortunately you'll need to Google to get the websites...

We too usually just go with the lowest price. Have rented from Avis, Andy's, Budget, Hertz. Never had a problem with any of them but as Testudo said, don't expect to get a new model car. Unlike in the s States, where rental cars are usually changed out every 1-2 years, it's very expensive to do this in GC so cars will generally be older. In January we had a 2008 model thru Budget. You may luck out an get a new or close-to-new car - just don't count on it. Also cars in any "class" in GC tend to be smaller than the comparable "class" in the US, so plan accordingly, 4 adults and 5 bags will require a large car and unless you are able to snag a van, depending on the size of the bags, your passengers may need to hold some luggage in their laps getting to/from the airport ! Also expect to pay a premium price as you are going during a prime time (Easter Week & Passover) and selection may be limited this late.

When we need something bigger we usually use Avis. They have Excursions -- it works for our family when we have them all in tow. We usually book these ahead because I don't think there are many of them in the fleet. We have had the same black one or the same white one a few times:)

I will need a van that will seat 6 adults and a baby in a car seat for February. I e-mailed Avis yesterday to find out rates for the excursion and the flex. Haven't heard back from them as of yet. Do they respond to the e-mails? Thanks.

We rent 2 smaller cars for larger groups like that. Much easier and much more flexible. Atleast IMO.

Agree that 2 smaller cars is a better option than one van when there are 7 people. Gives more flexibility when not everyone wants to do the same thing at the same time.

With that many people there won't be a lot of luggage space in the van. If you have two cars and split the occupants into 3 & 4, in addition to the trunk space in both cars, you can always use space in the back seat of the car with just the 3 people to put at least smaller bags. If you do decide to go with just one van, to get to/from the airport and your accommodations, you may need to send some of the people and their luggage via a taxi or airport shuttle.

Really? I had a family member rent from Sixt a year ago and the experience was wonderful. Brand new car and the cheapest rate for the week they were visiting.
