Good Life Abroad company

Has anyone used the Good Life Abroad company? Love the concept but would want to ensure it’s legit and safe. https://thegoodlifeabroad.com/how-it-works/

Interesting, I can’t answer you, but I just had an ad show up on Facebook, and I wondered the same thing you did!

I'm not clicking on the link but a google search reveals this statement:

"The Good Life Abroad is a members-only community of global citizens, aged 55 and older, who enjoy international living and discovering new cultures while forming new friendships. Members can live in any of our residential communities on a month-to-month basis, and move between communities whenever they like."

Sounds like your basic time-share scam? I hope people will not get taken in like those people who had signed up for a 3-year cruise with a company that didn't actually even have a ship available.

I'd like to welcome both of the previous posters to the Senior forum. MCG3_7, I'd be interested to know how you happened on this post just a few hours after it went up by a first time poster since your last post looks to be in 2019 and her last review was in 2018.

Sign me skeptical....and jaded....

I saw it on Facebook also - so I suspect that we saw the same ad. You’re right - I don’t post often. I do read a LOT of posts and use TA for research but I just don’t post.

Linda, thank you for the extra information. I’m sorry I sounded so suspicious, lol. I haven’t seen this in my FB feed but I’m guessing it will pop up soon!

I signed up for more info. Apartment rental prices are high ($7500 for 2 people/1 bed apt) for 1 month.

@Pollyanna70 - Is that in general or for a specific location? That's probably good for an apartment in Paris or London.

They only have three locations right now-- Florence, Barcelona and Lisbon. They all seem to be the same price-- or close.

It's not registered with Companies House in the uk - and doesn't give an address for the company. Nor even an email address or phone number.

What you get is a phone call and a template to fill in.

So if anything went wrong you aren't subject to UK law for redress or able to contact them in a way you need to.

Just found he's in California so that's something to consider. US law would apply maybe

It's a very new company, less than a year old "Social entrepreneur trying to unleash the power of travel" - seems to have popped in and out of all sorts or business ideas.

I'd always wait to see how the begining wrinkles iron out of something new.

I just did a quick search on Air BnB for Florence, Italy for a month. I did not zoom in to see ANY of the properties but it looks like for a month Air BnB from late Feb to late March (very off season) would run at most around $1970 for a 1 bedroom apartment in the heart of Florence.

A Road Scholar Living and Learning program for 45 days in Florence is $9799. That's $217/day with some meals, a leader and classes in Italian during the week plus field trips and guided tours. That breaks down to $6532 over 30 days although they do not offer a 30 day program.

So...I'd run the numbers with what you could book on your own. I enjoy tours because I like the added value of guides but they are not everyone's cup of tea. I add on independent time if I am doing some sort of group tour.
