Intrepid Travel sometimes has 20% discount specials on ALL their tours. Check around "Black Friday" - Thanksgiving weekend, or the start of the New Year. I've scored discounts using both methods.

I am 68 year old women who did the trip to India last October, as a solo traveler. I loved the trip, but my advise would be to check how many others have booked on the trip and date you are interested in. In my case there was only one other person. She was much younger than me, and our guide was a wonderful Indian woman, also much younger than both of us. As it turned out we all got along very well the three of us,which was just as well as it was for 16 days but it could have been most uncomfortable if we had not gelled.

Most trips will go with a minimum of 1, that’s ok if you don’t mind that, but when you are traveling on your own and think you are going to be with a group, it is quite a shock to find that it may in fact be a very small group!

Hi all! I've not heard of this company before, but was looking for a trip to take my mum on in late September and Intrepid's 8 day Explore Croatia trip popped up. Does anyone here have any experience with this trip? What are the accommodations like? My mum is an active 78 year old.

@Yanit. Do your research carefully. Intrepid often attracts younger adventurous travellers. Some of their trips are very "active" with trekking, long walks etc. On the positive side they keep their tours below 20 participants.

It all depends as far as the member's ages.

I took a 20-day Intrepid tour of eastern Europe a year ago that included two different groups of travelers. The first segment, covering Hungary and Romania, had members 35 to 74 years of age. Most departed and a new group joined me and another guy for the Bulgarian leg. They were 30-40 somethings but one Aussie was in her 60's.

Intrepid ranks their tours by activity intensity. This tour was considered easy-to-moderate. Although our guide was a 30-year old Brit, he had several years of guide experience under his belt and was quite conscientious.

Hello. Have you tried Peregrine adventures, they seem to have more comfortable accommodation advertised and are part of the Intrepid group. We went to India with them at Christmas and had an amazing time.

If you want real luxury try Tauck, the US travel company. They do tours all over the world. We did a New England trip with them. It was amazing.

My Intrepid Travel tour was exceptional and amazing. My tour guides really went out of their way to teach us about how the locals lived and their day to day lives. I'd highly recommend considering them for your trip.

Be careful when booking with Inrepid. They lied to us about their pricing policy and we paid more than needed. They do have regular discount offers so do NOT book too early. Better to wait for spread offers where you can save hundreds of doors off per person price.
