Hi all, DH and I are planning a three week CA road trip (LA > SEKI > Yosemite > Bishop (E. Sierra) > Death Valley > Palm Springs > LA) in late Oct / Nov. We're staying in hotels/motels throughout, some in towns and some in parks so plan to bring a well stocked cooler for 'day food' (sandwiches, pasta salads, etc) and try to have at minimum one nice restaurant meal wherever we are and the other evenings a hot soup or stew, etc. for dinner.
We've got cooking facilities on night 1 and nights 8-10 of 17, can do a good re-stock in Bishop and by the time we hit Palm Springs won't be much of a worry but curious what types of food other folks think would travel well, aside from nibbles and freeze dried 'hiker' food. Plan is tuna and buy fresh bread/fruit/veg when we can, boil a bunch of eggs, roast chicken and divvy up accordingly, GORP, etc.
What do you guys carry with you? Anything more interesting? Spices you couldn't live without? We eat just about anything so would love some fresh ideas :)
