First up, there is no such thing as Eurail. This is just a marketing name used to sell over-priced train passes. Each country has its own national train system.

You will get the best prices if you book now direct with the train operators.

You also need to think about how feasible your plan is - there is no sensible train from Klagenfurt to F after 18.00 in the evening that doesn't involve a long, cold wait somewhere in the middle of the night. The last daytime connection is at 14.32 and involves 9 hours and 3 changes.

Also when looking at train times be clear if you are travelling to or from Frankfurt airport or the city centre as they are served by different trains.

Frankfurt to Kufstein: buy from Deutsche Bahn (German Rail) as this is a domestic trip

Kufstein train station marks the border between the German and Austrian railway networks and is shared by DB (Deutsche Bahn) and ÖBB (Austrian Railways). Kufstein counts thus from either side as "domestic".

Kufstein - Klagenfurt - Frankfurt on one day is not realistic.

DB timetable

reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?

(from the airport)

Start: Frankfurt(M)Flughafen

(from the central train station)

Start: Frankfurt(Main)Hbf

Destination: Kufstein

As said different train routes from Frankfurt Airport (via Stuttgart to Munich and Kufstein) and Frankfurt City (via Nuremberg to Munich and Kufstein).

It is quite disturbing that when you Google "train travel Germany to Austria" that the first link that comes up is Rail Europe, (and then the link for Trip Advisor!!!) followed by a link for Eurail, and then a link for bahn.com

So sad - I think bahn.de should get their act together especially and pay a bit more money to Google, or whoever, to get their website link at the TOP of the pile of garbage that comes up!

I'm still amazed how many people on the UK forums keep on saying "use trainline" or "use red spotted hanky" or "use raileasy".

It really does pay to do your homework.

I am pricing OBB train tickets for 3 adults for points in Austria to ultimate destination Budapest. Are the ticket prices quoted per person or for the group?

I just did enquiries for 1 person and for 3, and the price is obviously for the whole group.
