Eastern Europe in August 2018

I plan on traveling to Eastern Europe in August 2018. I just have a week's time.

What cities should I visit? I have Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava, Warsaw and Tallinn on my list. I need help picking any 2-3 from these cities

The use of please and thank you and reference to Central Europe might get helpful replies. Meanwhile a map will probably give you the answer.

You can take the train between Vienna and Budapest fairly easily. Seven days is likely tight depending on your interests.

welcome,

as mentioned by david, a map will probably help you choose what cites to go to.

sometimes you have more choices and you are too blinded by your "greed" that you dont see the forest through the trees and you just want it all. Everyone that has traveled has been there. Spend some time reading up on whats there and each has to offer. We dont know what you like or dont and many will say to go to where THEIR favorite (to them) or most memorable (to them) place.

You should think about if you will return and if thats the case then spend some time looking at breaking your trip into 1,2 or 3 or .....trips.

good luck.

In mid/late September this year I split a week between Helsinki and Tallinn with open jaw flights and a ferry in between. The old town in Tallinn was lovely and fascinating and relatively empty of tourists. It is smallish and very walk-able. There are other interesting things to see and do in Tallinn, but the old town is really special and with only a few days, you would probably want to spend much of your time there.

However, I have seen photos of the old town in Tallinn during high season (July & August) and it was rammed. Cruise ships stop in Tallinn, especially in summer, and disgorge several thousand people at a time.

The old town is walking distance from the port and busses run for the cruise ship tours as well.

Budapest, Vienna and Warsaw have a much bigger area over which to spread visitors.

I enjoyed my two destination week and Tallinn was certainly worth seeing, but I rather wish I had spent the whole week in Helsinki. Four night really wasn't enough.

I suspect Budapest, Warsaw and Vienna could all easily absorb your attention for a week, but even if it is only a taste you want, more than two cities in a week wouldn't even be a taste.
