Adventures Abroad World Wide Travel company recent review?

Hi all,

Has any one travel with this company since March 2020 - i.e., since Covid. I saw some posts but most are several years + old. We are looking to travel to Saudi Arabia but don't want to book with a local tour company. Any other tour company suggestions?

Not sure which other forum within Trip advisor i should check other than the country specific ones.

Thank you for your time in advance.

Maybe post in the SA forum to ask for recommendations for other tour companies?

@whaleshark32. I thought I searched under All forum. Apparently not. Will try again. Thank you.

This is a complaint of the tour company, not a tour. My wife and I have travelled with Adventures abroad on numerous, satisfactory tours. In 2020, we deposited $1200 for a trip to Ukraine, etc., and $1000 for a trip to India. Both trips were cancelled by the company-covid. We allowed the company to keep the deposits as we were assured that the monies could be used for other trips of our choice. In 2022, we deposited $1000 for a trip to Saudi Arabia. We notified the company 5 wks prior to the trip that my wife required major surgery and would not be allowed to travel due to possible blood clot. The trip was still being advertised online as available. The company, without our knowledge or consent, applied all deposits to the Saudi Arabia trip and refused to refund any monies and did not allow usage on a future trip. This is unethical and may be illegal. BUYER BEWARE.

This is why in all the trips that I had booked that were canceled I did not think about helping these companies I thought about my self and either got cash refunds or filed credit card charge backs. In all but one I was able to claw back all my money. The one I was forced to take a credit (due to a law passed) but luckily I was able to use the credit.

I have learned that for the future I will not take a credit even if offered additional amounts added.

I'm confused. If you already had $2200 deposited from your previous canceled trips why did you send them another $1000? Why didn't you ask them to apply your credit as the deposit?

Also relevant is what were the cancelation terms of your Saudi Arabia trip? If it was non refundable or the cancelation deadline past you might not be entitled to a refund or future credit.

There should also have been terms for when and how you could use the credits from the previously canceled trips.

Dallas, you need to claim on your travel insurance, assuming you declared any pre existing medical conditions to the insurance provider.

I will guess that the total deposited still didn't cover the cost of the tour to Saudi Arabia for 2 people. I further guess that the company will argue that this is provided for somewhere in the terms and conditions.

If I am right on both counts then they are in the right legally and it is indeed a matter for your travel insurance.
