Msc Orchestra - a big disappointment

Just returned from a week cruising in the Norwegian fjords, June 2009. A really nice trip - but I should choose another cruise line than MSC if going again.

MSC Orchestra - really a nice quite new ship (2007), nice balcony cabins. But the atmosphere on the ship is poor. The majority of the staff do not seem to enjoy their work at all. It's hard to get a smile back from the staff. We have made 7 cruises before and have never met such booring staff.

The food was not as we expected, breakfast best. At the 2 formal/gala evenings the suggested dresscode was dark suit or tuxedo. Maybe 10-20% was following that advise. About 20% of the men don't even weared a jacket. My wife choose not to put on her nicest dress feeling to be overdressed.

The excursion administration was really poor. We have to wait 75 minutes after appointed time in the collection area before leaving the ship. Not until some people start to scream and shout - they appologize for the delay. It was like this was the first time they arranged an excursion.

The only reason to choose a MSC cruise would be for a really, really good price of the cruise. The nice feeling you normally get on cruise - feeling the staff will take care of you - you can forget.
