Emirates or Qatar

We have the choice of flying back to Manchester (UK) from Male (Maldives) via Doha/DXB with either Emirates or Qatar.

We will be booking in business class.

Does anyone have any advice/comments on which airline we should use ?

Any information would be much appreciated.

Yes there is a lounge at Male. You get things like comfy leather seating, internet access, cold and hot drinks, snacks and cakes including sandwiches, air con, etc, etc. Airport is a no booze zone apart from duty free but you'll get them on the return leg at Doha no doubt......

I believe it's open 24 hrs as there are flights leaving at 2am etc.........

Have a great time in the Maldives, it's a beautiful place.........

concordia.1

There is a small clear quite nice airconditioned business lounge at Male. Coffee , wc and forty odd seats. Its at the main concorse. There may be another over by the sea planes but I dont know for sure. As is the normal state of affairs you would only be able to use it for free on the return leg (back from male) unless your onward flight / package / hotel allows. I seem to remember you can also pay to enter at any time. Male airport is quite rustico as you may have guessed..

The BA card is very restrictive and pretty pants IMHO. I tend to use the business lounge of the airline I am flying with or if in coach my Priority Pass which gets me into most lounges at most airports. I get that card free with my Amex subscription.

Check out prioritypass.com or amex.com for more info.

Lil,

the priority pass is allows the holder to get into many business lounges at hundreds of airports world wide.

You can pay for the card directly but mine is free with my Amex card..I dont know if its free on all levels of cards or world wide. I suggest you speak to you card issuer.

I have used it for years....

CUT AND PASTE BLURB FROM PROIRITYPASS.COM

How Priority Pass works

You will be issued with a personalized membership card, lounge directory and unique pin number to access the member-only pages on this site; for the most up-to-date lounge information available.

Simply present your card

When you visit a lounge, present your membership card to the lounge reception and a record of visit voucher will be issued for you to sign. If you have guests, these will also be recorded.

Relax and enjoy

Then you and your guests can simply relax and enjoy the comfort of an airport VIP lounge away from the commotion of the busy airport terminal. Enjoy light refreshments, read the newspaper, watch TV or make the most of your valuable time by catching-up on work.

Offspinner. Transitted through DXB Terminal 3 a few days ago - but only for a short time. All very nice, but like you said there ain't a whole bunch of places to sit.
