Thomson No Dreamliner no Premium club.

Hi any one else experience this. Flight to Montego Bay 26 June. No Premium Club etc Put on a 767 . Disgusting for a 10 hour flight even if in economy.Did it to us before flying from Cancun. Had better leg room flying to Madrid. Just wondering what sort of compensation to expect. TUI group never getting any booking from us again. But hotel fantastic, weather great but who knows what we will get on the way back. Thomson you should get your act together.

Marcoos

This happened to us last year from Birmingham to Mo Bay,we had booked Premium class.

We got advised a week before we flew that there was a plane change,it was a joke but we got absolutely nothing ,just a refund for the lack of Premier class.

I don't really understand your complaint. Was there an equipment change and you had booked premium seats?

It's rotten not being able to fly premium but all you'll be entitled to is a refund of what you paid for the upgrade.

You won't get any compensation just because they replaced a 787 with a 767. If you were booked in Premium and there was no premium class on the plane you should get the supplement you paid for Premium back.

If you won't fly with TUI group because they substitute one type of plane for another, you'll run out of holiday destinations quickly as every airline does this when the original plane is unserviceable and there isn't a spare plane of the right type in the right place (except Ryanair who only have one type of plane). Would you rather they cancelled the flight altogether?

You might think that there should be a spare plane of every type in the fleet at every airport they fly from, but I doubt if you'd be willing to pay the higher fares that result from paying for all these extra planes to sit around waiting for a breakdown..

I am well aware of the need to change equipment sometimes. But I am not a specialist on the EU 261 regulation. Therefore my question. Under what circumstances would an involuntary downgrade from premium eco to standard eco fall under EU 261, if at all?

EU261 is not applicable.Premium on Thomson is not sold as a separate class, just extra legroom.

Good point. If there are separate booking classes such as First, Business, Economy Plus etc, the downgrade refund is 75% of the ticket price on a flight as long as the OP's. There's no case law on whether this is the price of the whole ticket or just the segment affected.

I'm not sure whether Thomson's Economy Premium is a booking class or not as its sold as an upgrade.

.

However from the OP's post I understood he/she was on a package holiday (reference to the hotel being fantastic) so there is no separate flight fare to calculate a refund on, which I why I said they'd just get the price of the premium upgrade back.

Thank you.

On a side note, I think comments like "disgusting" a bit off the mark. If all what it takes to put you off from flying is a bit less leg room, then you might stop flying or you invest into business or first class tickets. It is an inconvenience, nothing more.
