Delta Airlines shortened my middle name. Is this bad?

Greetings.

I ordered a ticket and was asked to provide my first, middle, and last names. I entered them exactly as they are in my passport but my middle name was shorted!

My middle name is Russian and a bit long - Aleksandrovich. On my ticket, it says "Aleksand'. I've read that TSA bugs people about their names not matching what's in the passport and now I feel very worried. Will I be denied from flying?

In my "secure flight passenger" info within the reservation it lists my full middle correctly. Would it make sense to print the reservation now and show it to the TSA to back-up my situation?

I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Its fine. It was shortened because the field just wan't large enough to have your full name. As long as your first and last name is correct--no problems. ( I don't even use my middle name on stuff and it IS on my passport)

We just flew to Atlanta with my husbands middle name shortened from Leon to Le. The field only holds so many letters so long names are shortened usually the middle name.

Don't worry middle names are never a problem, only first and second names have to be exact.

My son has 2 middle names and has flown no problem when only 1 shows on a tcket even though he has 2 in his passport.

The only problem you'll have, would be to try and get your name printed on a football jersey.

But you won't have any issues with your flight

I'm sure carriers have a passenger name manifest sent to authorities prior to arrival. In case of doubt, they should be able to double check on this list.

There prob. just isn't enough space for your full name on the itinerary.

Oh, those "Border Security" shows on TV always make things seem so awfully complicated don't they? :D

It couldn't hurt to print the reservation though, but I'm pretty sure you won't need it.

They all do that.... It's fine.

My middle name is always abbreviated on the boarding pass.
