Flying large dog in the US

I noticed another post here about flying with a dog and wanted to ask: I am assuming that it's impossible to fly a 100-lb dog from the east coast to LA. Is there a way to bring such a pet on vacation? I know the tiny dogs are no problem but we have looked and found nothing about bigger ones that aren't service dogs. True?

Impossible in the cabin. They have to be shipped as cargo. Go to your aitline's webpage where you can find information how to do this.

Thank you for making me smile. The title conjured up a comical vision of a big eared canine soaring through the clouds and you hanging on for dear life.

I knew the USA has major technological advances at its fingertips but ..........

Can I draw your attention to the heading of these guidelines (p 24874,column 3)

>>Guidance Concerning Service Animals in Air Transportation<<

I don't think that the OPs 100lb pooch is a service animal.

Be careful lifewithdogs.tv/2012/… That said my brother shipped two dogs Ireland-JfK (plus wife and kids) and Air Lingus gave them excelelnt service and the dogs were fine. But they did the research and chose the airline because of hte high kill rates of other airlines.

For a vacation - I wouldn't risk it.

Do you have any evidence at all to back up the alleged 'high kill rates' of other airlines ?

Where has the OP mentioned that it might be an emotional support animal?

The OP just asks >>Is there a way to bring such a pet on vacation<<

Not all pets are classed at emotional support animals.
