Transfer time Hong Kong airport

We are travelling from Norway to Fiji in October.

The route is from Norway to Hong Kong via Amsterdam with KLM. Then it's from Hong Kong to Fiji with Cathay (operated by Fiji Airways).

Is it most likely that we have to pick up our luggage in Hong Kong and go through the whole security and check in system?

Or is it possible that we are able to check in the luggage the whole way from Norway to Fiji even though we are travelling on two different tickets with two different airlines?

We have 2h 15 min between flights in Hong Kong.

Anyone with experience from this?

The normal rule with separate tickets is that the airlines are not obliged to check baggage to the final destination although they might do so if they are part of the same alliance which KLM and CP are not.

Separate tickets are high risk - miss the flight because of a delay or schedule change to your earlier flight and you lose all the flights on that ticket.
