electronic cigarettes - airlines/airports

I'm finding it difficult to get a clear answer so thought maybe I'd get the information here.

Can I use e-cigarettes on flights with:

Aer Lingus

United Airlines

Can I use e-cigarettes in Dublin airport or Chicago airport?

E-cigarettes are considered by airlines and airports to be cigarettes sooo you canNOT smoke them inside airports where smoking is banned!

In terms of the UK you can smoke them in pubs and other enclosed spaces, so why an airport would be different.

I didn't think any UK Airport had banned e-cigs ie the link to Gatwick in an earlier post. It is only some airlines which do not allow them ie BA don't but Ryanair do.

However, I can't comment on the policy at Dublin & Chicago

They are not allowed in airports in the USA or in planes in the USA.
