Nice to see someone is "keeping them Honest",

It's a bit rough not refunding passengers if an airline cancels the flight, good to see that has been rectified.

The compensation is only for passengers bumped from an oversold flight, not for a cancelled or delayed flight.

This is good news - has happened to me at a smaller Canadian airport out west.

I heard this on the news this morning, and I think it's good news, but I wonder why the delay compensation is just for Air Canada? Why not WestJet, Air Transat, etc?

It's not compensation for a delay or cancellation. The CTA considered two specific complaints, one against Air Canada and one against Porter. In the Air Canada case, they ruled passengers who are involuntarily bumped from an oversold flight, which Air Canada does relatively often, must received greater compensation. I'm not familiar with the Porter issue. No other airline was before CTA.

Good news. We have been bumped for oversold flights several times with AC.

Our consumer authorities took decisive action on this problem years ago, declaring that it was "misleading conduct" (a very serious offense) to sell an airline ticket if a seat was not available. Our airlines do not over-sell.
