Does anyone know how early we need to be at the airport to fly from Manchester to London? We shouldn't need to clear passport control should we?
No passport control for UK flights but some airlines do require photo ID to check in - I normally allow 2 hours for a domestic flight in case of traffic delays on the way to the airport or queues at check in or airport security.
Early morning at Manchester can be very busy if your flight is at that time, as can be tea time flights.
In particular it can be busy getting through security.
2hrs is about right to make sure all is ok. During the late morning and early afternoon an hour should suffice.
I wouldn't risk any less less than 2 hours as you could get caught up in long security lines.
Isn't it a whole lot easier just to use British Rail?
British Rail is a nostalgic memory of a bygone age !
We are in the hands of Virgin Trains between Manchester and London now :-)
I can get from Chester to London in just over 2 hours by train and most of the time they run on timeEdited: 1:09 pm, August 01, 2013
Ah, but if the OP is catching a connecting flight at Heathrow ..... otherwise, yes get the train.
Which carrier operates the route to either Gatwick or Heathrow as I though BA had dropped it???
BA still operate Manchester-Heathrow. Virgin compete with them on this route as part of the competition ruling given when BA took over BMI
Nobody now operates Manchester-Gatwick.
Virgin and BA fly to LHR. No LGW from MAN.
