Interesting article. Thanks for posting.
Direct Sydney to London - I couldn't think of anything worse!
But I suppose some people will love it. SQs long haul non stop service from SIN to JFK is always full even though the cost of a ticket is much higher.
That remains to be seen.
Anything that gets me to my destination quicker is a good thing.
Interesting article, but those types of ultra long haul planes haven't been successful before. The A340-500 already has ultra long haul capability, but has been a flop. It's LAX-BKK service has been withdrawn by Thai, and the Singapore Airlines LAX-SIN and EWR-SIN services get the chop this fall.
I'd personally like one of these to be successful, so we could get more non stops from the US to south India (BLR, HYD) and to BKK (for short hop Star Alliance connections to India). But I don't think it'll happen.
Couldn't think of anything worse if flying economy. Even with all the trimmings up the pointy end of the plane, too long. Then again, I'm the kind of person who sees a stopover as an opportunity to indulge in an extra destination's offerings, so I'm perhaps not the target customer for such a flight, if it ever happens!
I really liked the SIN to LAX non stop with SQ.
obviously others didn't.
I would have no hesitation in flying SYD-LHR non stop in economy.
it's all a state of mind.
I would do non-stop, quick one hour stops I can handle but those 3 hour transits are a killer
I prefer a stop to stretch my legs so it wouldn't be for me but probnably good for business travellers that need to get there quick.
I like the stop overs . It's like 2 holidays for the price of one . It also stops overindulging on the yummy cloud nine cocktails Cathay make .
