Search on http://www.kayak.co.uk/flights?mc=y. That will give you a good range of options.

I'd recommend Matrix as it gives you options such as searching across a whole month. If you're just looking for the routes mentioned, use the multi-city option. Also, once you find a good fare, take it and book directly with the airline(s). Don't be seduced by 3rd party bookers. Their fares may not exist, and in any case their customer service is generally very poor.

Notice you live near Nottingham-why not get flight from local airport to Dublin and the get long haul ticket DUB-ORD with AA?

I've saved an absolute fortune over quoted fares UK-ORD including costs of flight to DUB

If you go with the suggestion in post #3 and get these flights on seperate tickets to reduce the UK APD cost then you should build in plenty of time to catch the transatlantic flight, possibly even a day earlier.

If your flight to Dublin is on a seperate ticket and it's delayed or cancelled resulting in you missing the transatlantic flight then you are simply a no show and you've lost that ticket.

This option can result in savings but you need to understand the potential risks.

Absolutely agree with post 4-if you have to travel to DUB the day before in order to get your long haul flight, it totally negates any time or cost savings made by lower APD in Ireland
