Royal Brunei airlines - long haul flight -any experience?

I am tempted to try KK for the first time in Jan 2013 due to cheapish flights from London with Royal Brunei. I have never travelled with them and never heard of them before. The flight is probably the best part of a day - can anyone comment on what the standard is like for long haul. How comfortable / food / entertainment etc.

Would also appreciate some advice on whether Car Hire for exploring KK is safe / expensive / a good idea or not.

Tried to search for this on the forum but could not find any recent reviews of this airline. Thank you for any help you can offer.

I personally have only flown Royal Brunei Airline's Brunei-Bangkok route and found it to be pleasingly comfortable. Entertainment is decent and similar to other airlines - mixture of current and past blockbuster movies/documentaries/songs and interactive games as well. Meals are generally suitable for all walks of life and you can make specific request when buying your tickets.

Car rental price varies and are based on type and make of the vehicle. Do go for the licensed car rental companies to ensure both professional service and reliable vehicles are delivered.

Take your own alcohol and if you are discrete the FA's will even give a mixer and ice/lemon.

I don't drink on planes so the dry airline doesn't bother me.

BI fly old SQ B777s, so if you've flown on Singapore over the years, you'd be familiar with the aircraft. It's comfortable and entertainment is adequate, but not plentiful-- on your return trip, if it's in the same month and selections haven't changed, you might be bored.

Flights to KK probably on the A319. No PTVs.

Food OK-- not as good as the past, in my opinion, but adequate.

Cabin crew are efficient, polite and helpful.

Enjoy your trip!

done Melb-London - Melb last year , cabin crew were fantastic , meal of lamb was a real surprise, it was a real shock to get such a lovely meal , as I usually dont like airline food , much better than the top airlines, overall food was very good , cup of tea was hot , not luke warm , Toilets were very clean , I travelled business class I forgot to say , a very pleasent surprise , the price was a lot better than the other airlines , I would go with Royal Bruni Air next time ,

I told two of my friends about RB business class prices to London and suggested they check with reviews on airlinequality.

Both went at separate times and both intend booking again at later date.

One friend says it is not comparable with Singapore airlines business class but the price differential means that she can travel to London every year to see family rather then every other year. I note that these two travelled before RB had flat beds on this route.
