star alliance airlines flying to Barbados

We'd like to use some of our BMI points to get flights to Barbados this December if possible.

Does anyone know of a route using Star Alliance members which avoids flying in to USA ?

I have the same problem, lots of BMI points and nowhere to use them.

(nowhere I want to go that is). I don't think there is a single airline which would fly you to the Caribbean using Star Alliance points. I would like to be wrong.

PS - BMI has a special arrangement with Virgin Atlantic - you could use the points with them. Failing that via Miami.

Thanks Tilly, I knew that Virgin flew there but I don't know how easy it is to get the flights.I was hoping that maybe Swiss or Lufthansa or similar went from a European hub.

I wish BMI would fly some decent routes.Who wants to go to the weird places they are flying to in the middle east?

I agree with you, since they stopped flying to Antigua, most of my airmiles are on hold. I spoke to them this morning trying to redeem miles to Spitzbergen instead but nothing available going there in the summer, only coming back - go figure.

Hi,

You could use Air Canada and go non-stop to Toronto (YYZ)and connect to a non-stop to BGI.. You'd by pass US formalities on this routing.

Obviously quite a few people, otherwise they wouldn't fly there.....

Gopbi, Yes Air Canada could be an option.Any idea of the flying time from Toronto?

Numbat--I am sure people do fly these routes obviously and some destinations I can see as having an attraction (over and above business meetings) like Cairo,Amman,Beirut and Damascus. But who goes to Baku,Almaty,Bishtek,Yerevan? I cannot imagine that the planes are full.

I think the flying time from Toronto to Barbados is just over 5 hours.

And I agree with you about some weird routes.

Why not?

AC also flies YUL-BGI nonstop, another routing possibility. And it was 5:20 going down, 5:35 coming back this past weekend. (ex-YYZ)

Continental are Star Alliance members. You could go via New York. I rather enjoy an NYC stopover on the away to / from the carib.
