Typical Media feeding frenzy. Roughly the same in Saturday's Times (plus a robust and somewhat amusing puff from O'Leary.)

First Quantas and alleged short cut maintenance, now airlines hovering on the brink, next week it will be back to either abandoned children or 'Killer' Rottweilers. Why don't these people hold down proper jobs? The "Times" piece was so innacurate it verged on the embarrasing!

So what exactly is incorrect or misleading in the Independent piece?

Nothing springs to mind but it was merely a recyling of the usual guff. Shock horror we are all going bust, only five airline groupings to survive. House prices devasted, Blair/Banks/fuel prices to blame. Negative equity, millions homeless, no mint leaf in my Pimms etc., Not a word about how more than a decade of unsustainable conspicuous consumption, inflamed by equally daft media hype, has brought the chickens home to roost!

Quantas? Five minutes on the naughty step. Now, please.

Not a bad article, but slightly lemonade-yellow. One piece of info sadly lacking was the comparison numbers: saying that airline profits have dropped by XX% is a bit of a howler (yer wot?) when the actual profits of YYYsquillion pounds / euro / dollars isn't mentioned.

Rather like the 'ohnohowawfulwhatevershallwedo' about C Vorderman's 90% suggested cut in salary, which would take her from a cool 800,000GBP to 80,000GBP - rather puts things into perspective.

M O'L has never met a microphone he didn't like.
