BA usually don't waitlist for MFUs, esp on routes where they have more than one flight per day - LAX-LHR has three flights on BA metal.

It's irritating, but pax need to check availability at the Executive Club page at ba.com, as MFU seats could get dumped into the system at any time before the day of travel. A MFU from WT to WT+ for one sector from LAX to LHR requires 12,500 BA Miles, as long as the WT fare is one that can be upgraded. Deeply discounted fares are not usually eligible for MFU.

Miles For Upgrade. Pax can buy a ticket to travel in WT+, for example, and use Miles to upgrade into Club World, if there are award seats available in J. MFU is a great way to use Miles, as it takes just 25,000 (plus a paid-for WT+ ticket, of course) to move from WT+ to J rather than 100,000 Miles required for a straight award ticket in J.

Availability is what can slow things down, which drives me to distraction. I have a mass of Miles, but have a hard time finding those award seats in J. But we persevere.

Thank you for MFU exlplanation..hopefully last minute seats might come out but as you have experienced not always possible. Perhaps the waitlist could be attempted for a paid ticket rather than the miles?
