Looking to rent a week?

Endless Vacations, affiliated with RCI, offers many fine choices, and with the AARP program you can save 35% off rentals.

For unit rentals in timeshare resorts I have always used medresorts.net, who are affiliated with rci,and offer great deals and a great service and impartial advice. No membership is required either.

RCI and II are exchange companies. What are you looking to do? Research resales?

Vincent -- Not sure if you mean "Timeshare Resort" or "Timeshare Exchange" company -- they're not the same. Some timeshare "reaorts" -- where you actually make your timeshare purchase as a place to vacation to periodically (whether you own once-a-year, quarterly, once-every-two-years or whatever availability). They can be good or bad, just like any other landlord/management company. Some folks who own timeshare units genuinely enjoy going back to their timeshare resort (also known as their "home resort" year-after-year without ever "exchanging" to any other resort.

Timeshare "exchange companies" generally do not actually own resorts, but act as "brokers" for timeshare owners who want to exchange their time at their home resort for vacations at other resorts. Typically, accessing these "exchange opportunities" requires a membership fee for the exchange company that is separate from your timeshare ownership purchase and maintenance costs. RCI and Interval International (II) are two of the larger exchange compannies.

Many folks who have owned timeshare units and been members of those exchange companies for many years have found in recent years that the number of available exchanges appears to be declining steadily, meaning fewer available exchanges to the most desirable locations.... resulting in less and less satisfaction with RCI, II or whatever exchange network they belong to. I can't honestly say I've heard anyone from either of those networks ssay they're happy with what they now receive for their memebership fees compared to what those same (or lower) fees bought them in the past. We've been RCI members for over a decade and definitely feel the RCI "product" has declined in value. Other people may have different opinions.
