Great food, great service, great setting. Only criticism is that we felt rushed, supposed to be leisurely meal could have been out in half an hour and that was with 3 courses

Lovely setting below Blencathra. Great views from the outside seating. Lots of parking. Conveniently located a short way off A66. We were meeting friends for lunch before going on to our rented cottage (for the 2nd year). Staff very helpful re adjusting our time of...More

Stopped off here after a very long walk up Blencathra. We were so ready for some food by the time we arrived and the service was excellent and very quick. Food was great and the staff were lovely! Will definitely visit again :)

Had dinner and stayed the night here whilst doing the coast to coast. Very pleasant pub and b&b with friendly service. Rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable and the pub had a traditional feel. Reasonable value for money in my opinion compared to other places...More

Love this place. Worth the drive over there. Really good food. Friendly staff. Great surrounding landscape. Not one of those places where quantity is more important than quality.

Looking at everyone else's plates I knew I'd chose badly. I had the Cumberland sausage. I prefer mine to be more crispy. It was a bit under done for me. Also the mash wasn't mashed enough and it was quite poor. Nevertheless it was tasty...More

Wouldn't walk it after dark, great walk in the summer months takes me just under an hour. Taxis varies on time. I can get a taxi to Keswick at 7pm for around £10 and that was a 6 seater. But then at 1-2am it's about £13-15.
