We stayed at the Horse and Farrier cottage next door to the inn for 2 nights. What a gorgeous little place! Really cosy with a log burner, well equipped and dog friendly. The hospitality of the staff was excellent; all staff were friendly and helpful...More

We visited this place as three adults and a newborn. When we arrived we were taken to our reserved table and when the staff realised we had a newborn we were quickly moved to a different table which was more appropriate. The staff were very...More

A group of eight people were well looked after. We all had different things to eat and we were all very happy. A Jennings pub, so local beer and a good selection of other drinks Typical Cumbrian pub. Lots of character.

We have dined here a number of times, not quite as good as its been in the past but still well worth a visit. It didn't start well as the greeting we got from the lady handling the bookings was somewhat underwhelming thereafter the service...More

We were advised to book, which we duly did, because the restaurant is so popular that we would not be able to dine without a reservation. Came the day and we arrived anticipating a good meal in pleasant surroundings. We received a warm welcome from...More

Second visit in five days. You can tell this food has been made well, from quality ingredients. All tastes freshly prepared (they have a constant turnover): fish and chips (fresh fish, batter tasted home made), double-cooked chips with a crunch. Burger and Steak Pies very...More

I had the pleasure of visiting this pub whilst on a brief visit to the lake District. It's everything you would wish for in a traditional English pub. Built in 1688. We were welcomed by the staff when we walked in. They had an excellent...More

Wouldn't walk it after dark, great walk in the summer months takes me just under an hour. Taxis varies on time. I can get a taxi to Keswick at 7pm for around £10 and that was a 6 seater. But then at 1-2am it's about £13-15.
