Called here for lunch and we weren't disappointed. It was very busy. A good choice of food. The staff were very efficient and helpful. Good value for money.

Great food and great service. Everything we ordered was great, portions were abundant, the place looked really nice and authentic and the service was excellent. All the personnel was lovely and constantly smiling: this alone goes a long way in making a good experience and when it's added on top of everything makes the experience great.

We were doing a cycling tour and were absolutely soaking, dripping, wet through! This place was open for food all day and we were passing through. Even though we were extremely wet, we were welcomed and allowed to sit at tables to have some lunch. The food was reasonably priced and portion sizes generous. We must have left wet chairs... More

We booked a table here for an evening meal. The pub is very relaxing and traditionally decorated. The food was tasty and the drinks were good. The slightly eccentric waitress seemed a little stressed and struggled with drinks orders but overall was an enjoyable evening and we would definitely return.

Found somewhat by accident at end of Blencathra walk great coffee. Booked dinner and enjoyed so much returned (from Keswick 5 minutes drive) the next night. Old-time pub with great ambience , good menu of fresh cooked food .

Visited with my family (six of us) for dinner. Round of drinks was £20 (same round in Wetherspoon's yesterday was £8!). We alll ordered dinner which was very good and the service was efficient if a little vacuous (the waitress couldn't seem to smile). The bill came to 10p short of £200 without a tip.

My wife and I had a lovely meal at The Horse and Farrier on a Friday night - so much so that we recommended it to the wider family who were also up in Cumbria with us on holiday. That meal met with widespread praise from all present. A lovely pub atmosphere with plenty of tables on which to dine,... More

Had a really nice meal, dog was allowed in part of the bar. Helpful. The positives - good menu and choices; helpful staff; steak, pie and homemade curry was great (they do several homemade dishes and specials). Desserts great. Only reason is not higher - it will get more run down in the years that come, still just about ok... More
