Well it is the BEST restaurant in village of Josè Ignacio by some margin. Less tourists more locals. One of the waitors (with brand new baby and doggie) was so so so lovely. The food is divine. The service charming. Made us feel so so...special. Great squid, steak...10 out of 10More

We were invited by our Uruguayan friends to this restaurant. We were most impressed for the quality and innovation of the food. The stuffed pumpkin as appetizer and the mussel ravioli where the stars of the night. The service was standard, but now again you...are in Jose Ignacio…More

What happened with the service? La Olada has traditionally been a cool alternative to La Huella, good local gastronomy, ambience but with local Uruguayan unpretentious touch. Possibly because it was at the beginning of the season, service was terrible and food was not great. Hopefully...they course correct.More

I called this restaurant about a half hour prior to our arrival, and the waitress was able to squeeze in a table of five. They gave us blankets to wear during the chilly part of the evening and the waitress was very attentive. The good...itself was excellent - everything - and came at a very good rate. Would definitely come back again!More

The first visit was a very busy and chilly Saturday night when the only table free was outside and furthest from the fire. Blankets were offered and gratefully received. The second time was a much quieter Monday night when we sat inside. On both occasions...we shared starters and pudding. On both occasions the attention of the staff (including Hector the restaurant dog!) and the quality of the food were excellent. The baked pumpkin filed with local cheese, rocket and nuts as a starter was a highlight. The dressing on the spinach accompanying the pejerrey (a white fish served as small fillets) was perfect. Chupin (fish stew) ans entrecot did not disappoint. Desserts of dried fruit tart and Death by Chocolate maintained the high standard. What a lovely restaurant!More

When we walked in we were very excited as the ambiance, lighting and general vibe of the place felt totally perfect. Their cocktail menu was extensive and the drinks tasty. The service was fast too - probably our fastest dinner in Uruguay. The food though,...left me totally underwhelmed. For such a fancy restaurant, i expected more.More

Delicious food in an intimate setting. The ambiance is created with vines overhead, a wood burning oven, hanging fairy lights, stacked wood and brick floor. We enjoyed everything we ordered paired with local wine. Highly recommend.

It was very cool and calm, the food was excellent and they had great choices for cocktails and wine. The ambience was relaxing, chill….you can see the hard work these guys are putting here and it transforms to love for the place. I will definitely...comeback. La Juanita is starting to look like a great place for these nieche resto´s!!!!More

Had dinner there one evening. They don’t open until late (typical of all local restaurants). Good drinks and food. Beautiful interior... seemed like lots of locals

Enjoyed our evening at La Olada, a restaurant tucked in on a side street in La Juanita. The restaurant is very pretty, lit with candles with an open kitchen. Great place for people watching, service and food was delicious. Our server spoke great English and...much appreciated. Highly recommend it, use goodle map or taxi to find it, as it’s in a residential area off a dirt road, but don’t let this deter you, it’s not far from the main highway.More

We just came home from a wonderful dinner at this restaurant and wanted to share our experience with others. Their food was delicious and plentiful, Santiago and Guzman could not have been nicer, and the setting was beautiful. They were very helpful and spoke excellent...English. We highly recommend.More

My husband and I dined at La Olada last night and enjoyed it very much. As other reviewers have said, the setting is lovely with candlelight throughout. Our server was attentive and spoke excellent English. We shared the roasted pumpkin-goat cheese-arugula appetizer. It was unusual...and delicious. My husband had the steak and I had the lamb. All dishes came to the table piping hot and were delicious. The house Tannet wine was very good and quite reasonably priced. There were several cats and a dog strolling around the outside seating area. This may be acceptable custom in Uruguay, but it was a distraction for my husband. Use GPS to find this place. It is tucked away in the La Juanita area of Jose Ignacio — mostly residential with no street lights. A charming place with good food, reasonably priced.More
