A very good find. A lovely traditional pub in a lovely village. Food was very tasty, staff were very accommodating and price was very acceptable. Nice area to have a nice walk and then call in for food.

We called in here on a Monday evening and very glad we did. Food was excellent. Menu is basic but very good. If ever we are in the area again we would go back. Staff were friendly and helpful.

You can always tell if a pub knows what it is doing by the quality of a sunday roast. So many places say that they do it but there are quite a few who haven't a clue and charge ridiculous amounts for the privilege. £6.95 for a very generous portion of Turkey, Yorky pud, roasts and a big bowl of... Visited for a drink with friends as we walked into bar landlady looked at us then walked to the other bar, we assumed she was serving another customer she then came back to the bar and just completely ignored us and just stood there, when we asked if we could get some drinks she just grunted. The atmosphere was tense, and... My first visit, just back from holiday, no food in house, tired and weary traveller. We had a genuine and warm welcome from the landlord and he found us a space to eat in a very busy pub. The staff were great and the service was good. The food was super - best chips for miles around. Good portions and... More

Lovely food, excellent service. What else can I say it was one of the best eating out experiences I have had in a long time. Thank you to the chef and the waiting staff.

We moved into the village a few months ago and this pub was one of the reasons we chose Hickling! We love the friendly, warm and efficient staff, the great range of real ales and the great value home cooked food. It's not fancy - it's a village pub - but it's honest, warm, cosy and friendly. We love it.

Been here lots of times before and has been great unfortunately went last Sunday for a birthday meal to receive the worst meal and service I think I have ever experienced. Had to ask several times for everything drinks, menus, order, sent two meals back as they were half the size portions as the other 4 at our table, no... More
