We are locals that live within a 10 minute walk of the venue, so far the food has been average but convenient. Tonight we ordered the $15 steak and drink deal, obviously we weren't expecting a quality piece of meat for the price but what we were served was by far the worst steak either of us have ever eaten,... This is our local and we regularly go for a drink. Tried the $10.00 rump last night and was presently surprised. Great steak cooked to perfection. Well worth a visit. Enjoy

This is our local pub and we are fortunate that the food offering is so good. Tonight I tried the slow cooked short rib of beef on a bed of mash. It was accompanied by a delicious jus with a hint of star anise. Superb. The Coopers Vintage Ale was a perfect accompaniment.

The Broken Hill Hotel is a pub in Albany Highway, Victoria Park. Many an Emu Export has been downed there but now the pub has gone upmarket. The food is good and you can still get a drink, but it's not the sort of pub it was before.

We go here now and again on steak night and find it very good value. Great flavour ,maybe a little tough. The fish and chips here are very good. Very good service and a great place to eat locally.

We decided to eat at the Broken Hill Hotel because we had not done so previously and were in the area. We decided to share the special pasta which was fettuccine with mussels and chorizo. Realistically the meal was really only average. I think we would try a steak special next time. However the staff were terrific - friendly and... More

We went on $10 steak night and it was busy. The service was very good staff were friendly and efficient. The steak was ok as you were getting what you paid for but everything else was very good. Good selection of beers and they were cold.

Late lunch of beef burger (comes with chips) and fish of the day (risotto with barramundi, mussels, broccoli, capers ), tap beer and two glasses of red = $80. Risotto was big serving and surprisingly not too soggy. Good service for a pub. Beef burger as one would normally expect with toasted bun.

Great place for a good hearty meal and a beer (special) meals are of good size and quality - especially for the price. Reasonably modern style pub, musicians outside on occasion.

Description
Situated right on the edge of Perth City and Victoria Park's hippest thoroughfare is the dynamic Broken Hill Hotel. Come and join us on the corner of Albany Hwy and Harper Streets.

The Hotel, a previously decaying heritage icon, has been transformed into a bustling and vibrant venue not to be missed. The Broken Hill Hotel is one of Perth's best, serving great coffee all day, sumptuous lunch menus and in the evening, a stylish dinner menu based around dishes to share.

The modern pub food is served in healthy proportions using the freshest of local ingredients. The wine list is a comprehensive range of local and international varietals, augmented by a complete range of beer and spirits.

You can expect the best from the Broken Hill Hotel with an enthusiastic welcome, quality fresh cuisine, premium affordable wines, innovative design, all entwined within a lush terraced beer garden and an outstanding heritage building incorporating the bar/lounge/restaurant.

Broken Hill Hotel, Victoria Park, is a two-story federation free classical style hotel with prominent corner facetted dome tower which dominates the busy commercial thoroughfare of Albany highway in Victoria park.
The place was originally owned by Alfred George Russell, the second Mayor of Victoria Park and was designed by the architect and first Mayor of Victoria Park, Robert Thompson McMaster, and is a rare extant example of his work and the place is a fine and substantial example of a Federation Free Classical hotel, representative of the grandiose hotel architecture built in Perth and its immediate suburbs during the gold rush period.

Broken Hill Hotel constructed in 1897 and completed in 1898 was one of the first hotels to be constructed in the inner metropolitan area outside of the city's boundaries and is the oldest remaining hotel in Victoria Park.

The hotel was substantially renovated in 2005 and today is a Bar and Restaurant venue.
The Broken Hill Hotel has been included on the State Heritage List of Heritage places.
