Best salmon in town

Regardless is not too big, if you do a reservation you can enjoy a cozy restaurant with an excelente view of the town and also the lagoon. Food is prepared by request so there is not any risk to have an overwarmed meal. I recommend "patatas bravas" smoked salmon poured with "gulupa" sauce and White wine. Waitress is kind and sweet.

Best service I've ever had in Colombia

I went to La Cava Guatava when I was on a short trip in Guatavita. It has a cosy, warm, relaxed, and intimate atmosphere. There are outdoor heaters on the front patio and the restaurant has a very comfortable feeling. The menu options are original and the food is high quality. I ordered the gourmet empanadas to start and for the main I ordered the Filet Mignon and some wine. I could tell that their food sources were higher quality than most places in the area and the chefs prepared it with great care. The ambiance and food were tremendous, but they pale in comparison to the service. The hosts, servers, and chef were all very accommodating to my dietary restrictions and made every effort to ensure I received good service. I have been in Colombia for six years and my best restaurant experience so far has been at this place. 10/10 will go back again on my next trip to Guatavita

Dear Conor, Your love and joy for our food and, more importantly, for our staff is why we do what we do. It’s just overwhelming to read things like these because we do what we love for a living and sometimes seeing kind words from a costumer is just what we need to keep our motors going and trust us, we have lots and lots of love to give in the form of food and great experiences. Small but AMAZING!!!

This restaurant was recommended by one of the owners of a Guatavita jewelry store as ‘muy delicioso’. We went ant it was amazing!! It is a small place with only about four seats on a covered patio and four tables inside. But the ambiance is great and the food was amazing!!! The service was excellent and I can’t recommend it highly enough!!! They even have their own brewed and bottled beers!!! My local hosts were as impressed which says something!!

Cute restaurant with awful food

The place is cute and the staff friendly. However, that‘s where the good experience ends. The cuisine is this type that is trying to be fancy but they definitively overdo it. The carots where not cooked, the sauce was salty and the spagetti had no salt at all. After giving a feedback we were explained why it is perfect like that. So, it really felt like wasting our energy and time to say anything, although we were asked for our opinion.

After talking to the member of our staff who was your waitress, there seemed to be a miss understanding during the explanation of our flavours and cuisine and for that we take full responsibility. Excelent place, great food, view & music. We tasted the ossobuco. It was very tender and tasty, the best I had have by far and I have tried in several places and countries. For entry we had the shrimp with lettuce 😋. Since it was my husband’s birthday, we ask for the chocolate cake (hot) with berry ice crea, it was great!! Also the beverages great: dry martini, hot wine, and hervido pastuso (new for me and quite nice for the cold weather). The waitress Ginna, very friendly and helpful to explain the dishes. Congratulations!!! Keep the good taste!!!

The Food Gem of Guatavita

Amazing food and quality service! I had previously emailed requesting a reservation, since they tend to be quite busy. I ended up arriving much earlier than expected, around 12 pm on Monday and was advised they didn’t open until 12:30 pm. I walked around, came back ordered and was informed it would be 45 minutes for my food to be prepared but it was well worth the wait! I ordered the veggie burger (it reminded me of Lebanese’s food) and my cousin had the trout (I had a small bite and it was delicious). The portions were pretty big and filling. Next time I am in Guatavita, this will be my first stop for the day!

Hidden gem in Guatavita

Great restaurant! The dishes with trout (specially the risotto) were exquisite. Every item we tried was an interesting take on global and local dishes. We didn’t order any wine, but their local craft beer was really good. Waiters were really attentive, and the owner came up to the table to check on us a couple of times. The ambiance is family friendly, and yet very tasteful. Definitely a hidden gem in the area! 100% going back!

Amazing Restaurant

La Cava is an amazing restaurant you have to try if you are in the Guatavita area. The food was super fresh, made to order, with local ingredients. The trout, chicken, and even burgers were super. Don't forget to try the local beer with quinoa. Try and sit upstairs to get the amazing view. Five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Excellent restaurant in Guatavita

I loved the atmosphere here. We ordered the Poblano Chicken and the New York meat. The Chicken was a little spicy but great. The New York plate had a fantastic Yuca, and the salad had a mind-blowing passion fruit vinaigrette. People are amazing, I will come back for sure.

Tuve la suerte de visitar este hermoso restaurante mientras visitaba a mi familia en Colombia. Permítanme comenzar diciendo que todo el establecimiento es impresionante. Puede ver la ciudad y la laguna desde el nivel superior. Cada entrada que llegó a la mesa no solo fue visualmente atractiva sino exquisita. Los miembros del personal fueron atentos y amables. Es un lugar para disfrutar de buena comida en buena compañía y, por supuesto, de una buena botella de vino. Tuve una experiencia increíble y espero volver. I was lucky enough to visit this beautfil restaurant while visiting family in Colombia. Let me start by saying that the entire establishment is breathtaking You can see the city and lagoon from the upper level. Every entre that came to the table was not only visually appealing but exquisite. The staff members were attentive and friendly. It's a place to enjoy great food with great company, and of course a good bottle of wine. I had an amazing experience and look forward to returning next time I'm in Colombia.

Fresh, Delicious, Outstanding

Best meal over seven days in the country (and we ate our way through cities and towns). Every appetizer and entrée was beautifully thought through and presented, absolutely delicious and fresh. Great views of the town activity and lake. Our friend Paco, the cat, hung with us for a bit.

Big world tastes in a small world place

Prompt and friendly attention. Peaceful setting on the outdoor front porch. Beautiful presentation of our meals was matched or exceeded by the flavors of our orders. Cordon (chicken) and Lomo (pork) with excellent sauces were our choices. Both were savory! Yes, this place deserves its great reviews!!

A place to come back over and over.

If you are in Bogota, you need to go to Guatavita. If you are in Guatavita you must go to La Cava Guatava. Everything is good, more than good, it's perfect. The food, the music but the service is the extra mile. My wife had low battery charge in her cell, Carlos one of the staff members took the time to go home and bring his own charger for us. Good wine. I'm coming back every time a travel to Bogota. Mauricio.

What a wonderful experience

We are travelling with a group of friends on a 15 day Colombian outing. Thursday we went to Guatavita. It was a pleasant day in this mountain village. The highlight was lunch at La Cava. The accommodations are rustic and charming. The staff was attentive readily available and eager to please. The service was prompt but leisurely which was perfect for our needs. The owner suspervivsed at a distance and engaged as appropriate. An added bonus was the presence of the owners daughter who had attended college in Boston and spoke perfect english. BTW her personal recommendation was the burger, which a number of or our group tried and were very pleased.

Everything was jus perfect: the ambiance, the view, the price, the food presentation which was top notch and just delicious! Excellent customer service. Even the chef stopped by to greet us and ask about our experience. Thanks to everyone at La Cava for a wonderful experience!
