We recently visited Hildas kitchen, and while some of us did enjoy the pork belly (albeit the dish was cold), the same could not be said for the moroccan lamb and phillo pastry dish. The imagination would expect a chunky lamb dish, a rich orange...or red moroccan spiced interior spilling out through a phillo package. This was not the case. It was more of a flavourless beef mince filled phillo roll, with the odd carrot and pea frozen veg piece here and there. The only thing moroccan was a smidge of hummus on the side. Unfortunately a bit dissapointing. Overall service, atmosphere and wine was good!More

We stopped off for lunch at this pleasant restaurant during our stay at the West Coast National Park. Food and service were excellent, setting stunning and the trip there was beautiful through the flower covered fields.

As predictably enjoyable as ever with two chances of that perfect pastry both as starter and dessert....but do not miss the brilliant Bunny Chow!

Back again to what is most definitely turning into a must go food destination for me....housed in a beautiful national monument, the dining room has plenty of old items (sausage making machines of all sizes springs to mind) to keep you interested.....the quietly laid back...but attentive service adds to the sheer pleasure of waiting for your meal to arrive...and when it does, heaven....no frills, no fancy this and that..just well thought through interpretations of good quality ingredients....and you can visit Groote Post Winery for a pre - lunch tasting and stock up the boot full of your favorites for the journey home.....to add to our great experience the proprietor Shaun pointed out two barn owls that also appreciated the splendour of the place, nesting in the chimney...More

If you have nothing to do on a Sunday, want peace and quiet and some farm food this is a good choice, It is off the beaten track and there is no Restaurant sign but once you enter the building you get the feeling what...this is all about. There is no fancy cooking here, only old fashioned farm food. Since there is a winery at Groote Post you also taste their own win to that food. I enjoy places like this. Hildas Restaurant delvers exactly the kind of food you may need on a Sunday, especially is you a drink to much on the Saturday.More

My family and I stopped at Groote Post today to do a wine tasting on our way home from a family weekend at Shelley Point Hotel. My son in law did not want wine so walked over to Hilda's Restaurant to get a coffee. He...was refused service and turned away by the Manager who claimed he was too busy to serve a coffee. Extremely inhospitable and absolutely shocking that he could not afford a staff member the time to make a cup of coffee for a customer. No matter how good your food may or may not be, your behaviour is a disgrace to the South Arican Hospitality Industry. I would neither recommend or visit your restaurant.More

The setting is a Cape Dutch farmhouse as the Groote Post vineyards and that along is enough to get the taste-buds twitching .... as for us food is about the whole experience. Don't be deceived by the simplicity of Debbie's menu - every dish is...created with equal passion, and although I have not tried them all, would be willing to bet that each one is as good as the other. We kicked off with a starter of kudo carparcio, and that was a hard act to follow. Never fear, the pork belly was every bit as good. Pork belly is no longer a rarity, but what is a rarity is finding really good pork belly .. with delicious crisp crackling on the outside but still moist and juicy below. Mission accomplished. PS ... and the BEST accompaniment for a pork belly is the Groote Post Riesling - that will add the cherry on the top.More

what a great decision it was to have lunch at this fantastic restaurant. Two of us had the pork belly and wow everything was done to perfection, the chicken pie my wife enjoyed was chicken, very tasty, yum. the old Man steak roll was done...to perfection. we were all suitably content but had to try Hilda's Melktert, served warm it was the best I have ever had and the accompanying ice cream was delish.More
