It’s not clear why, or for how long, but when we tried dining here 12/24/2020 at 1 pm, it was closed, and no one was around. It looked abandoned. Scaffolding on one side of the building. Disappointed.

Chicken Mole and brownie dessert were so good we ate their two out of our three nights there. Owner was very hospitable and we really enjoyed the chocolate tour.

Wonderful unassuming Argentinian restaurant in Monteverde. Portions are huge so we were happy we shared a salad and delicious filet mignon. Go early for drinks with sunset view. Highly recommended.

The food here is outstanding and there are several excellent vegetarian choices. The view is breathtaking and the staff is always friendly and professional. The empanadas are delicious and we also enjoy the roasted vegetable wrap and an Indian inspired chickpea wrap. The ice-cream and...sorbet is also out of this world! So good.More

We needed to get away from our hostel kitchen and this was one of the few places in walking distance. Lucky us! We could not have been happier with our meal. We got the chicken mole and the shrimp in coconut curry. Both were amazing,...as were the roasted vegetables on the side. Portions were just right (generous) after a long day as was the balcony setting at sunset. And all the staff was very friendly. Would absolutely be going here again if we had more time in Monteverde.More

Popped in after a long walk around the excellent Monteverde Preserve in January 2020. Oddly, I did not expect much as the place was deserted, while the Italian over the road was bursting. But to my delight the steak wrap I ate was sensational, washed...down by an excellent full-bodied Argentinian Merlot. My companions ordered pizza, probably every bit as good as those served at the Italian, while their starters were also consumed with great gusto. It transpired that the owner (Bob - lovely bloke) used to work at the Monteverde preserve, and we spent a relaxed last hour after the cooking staff left, discussing conservation, the sad extinction of the golden toad, and old times up in the cloud forest with him over another bottle of ballsy red. Bob then got us to try some of his homemade chocolate - I am by no means that fussed about chocolate, but I have to say it was very good. What I liked best was that he makes and sells it because he wants to make great chocolate, not because he wants to make money. We were there in a gale at 20:00 in what approximates to winter in Costa Rica - on a sunny lunch or evening, the outside porch looking over the mountains would be a delight. Give it a try!More

We had lunch after a forest walk. It was great to relax on the lovely porch. We had a chicken mole and the satay chicken salad. The mole was very good, although a little lighter than we expected. The satay was out of this world...delicious. My partner had a beer and I had wanted wine but they had primarily malbecs, if I recall correctly, which are not my favorite. So I had the ginger mint lemonade. It was the best thing that could have happened to me! It was wonderful -- not too sweet and just delightful and refreshing. I would go back even if I did not like the food (which we very much did) just for the lemonade. All in all it was a lovely meal. Our server was very kind and wonderful, but got a little busy when a table of 7 sat down right next to us. They took up quite a bit of her time so the service got a little slower, but I really think it was more the fault of the other guests who were demanding a great deal of her time. I would however, take that into account and make sure you have time for a leisurely meal when you go. Finally, the restaurant is over a very educational and fun bat display (fee) which we also enjoyed very much.More

Nice view of the cloud forest and countryside hills. Food is well prepared. Tried chicken mole, which came with a hearty chocolate and tobacco tasting sauce. Really good. Burritos are filling, but maybe not much different to anywhere else. Artesanal beer from Belmar on bottle.

We only found this place for our last dinner, before we left for home. All I can say is that this lady (the owner) knows food. Everything fresh, locally sourced, and delicious. It's known for its desserts, but of the four dishes we ordered, every...single one was absolutely excellent. The veggie pizza is amazing, the veggie curry too, the mole sauce was tops, and the empanadas are the best I've had in years. The owner refuses commissions (i.e. kickbacks) from local hoteliers and AirBnB hosts so she doesn't get that kind of traffic, but she doesn't need it. Also the homemade chocolate is excellent and our only regret is that we didn't have time to go on her chocolate tour showing how they make the chocolate. If I could give 6 stars I would!More

We stopped in for a late lunch. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. We ended with a Death By Chocolate brownie made with their own chocolate. You must try this.
