The food here was more European in style and presentation. It seemed expensive compared to other restaurants but it did offer a different standard of cooking. Perfect for a romantic evening. The host was very gracious and we really enjoyed the food.

We wandered into d'Sofia somewhat impulsively, and immediately were impressed by the design and menu.We had been wanting to try local beef, so we ordered their Beef Tenderloin withRoasted Red Pepper and Cashew Sauce. It was perfect, as were the asparagus and the mashed potatoes. We started with Enyucados (croquettes filled with smoked provolone) as an appetizer and they were... More

We went for dinner around 6:00/6:30 pm and we were the only ones there at first! We had great service and great food. The decor was really nice, the best soups we ever had! Entrees were also very good.

Compared to every other restaurant I've eaten in this week - expensive. Compared to every other restaurant I've eaten in this week -WORTH EVERY PENNY! I had the Sweet Potato With Plantain Soup - TO DIE FOR. I asked for the recipe. The Shrimp and Sea Bass Chimichanga, also excellent but I could have had a couple quarts of the... More

This restaurant is well worth a visit or two or even three! We were in Monteverde for two nights and ate here both times. After our first meal was so enjoyable we just had to come back to try the rest of the menu and when we did they gave us a discount for returning! The staff was so friendly... More

This is a terrific little Mexican restaurant in Monteverde owned by the same people who own Trio in the town of Santa Elena. The food is outstanding. The night we were there there was only one person working, so he was a little rushed (making drinks, taking orders, delivering food) but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't bother... More

We were happy to have found this restaurant just off the road from Santa Elena to Monteverde. The decor was very nice Latin American style and the owner and waiter Julio friendly, professional and attentive. We each had a cocktail to start - passion-fruit mojito and passion-fruit colada were delicious. The menu is quite interesting and my husband and I... More

What a lovely find! Superb food with several seafood choices. The gracious wait staff was happy to call a taxi for us and keep our wine glasses filled. Tico décor includes arched doorways and windows, local modern art, lots of wood and adobe.

Lovely hidden spot, recommended by our hotel. Glad they did, as it was delicious. We had drinks, appetizers and dinner. Wonderful, friendly staff and nicely decorated.

We heard from several people about the drink list here so we stopped by Sofia after dinner for some cocktails. Needless to say, we were not disappointed by the bar's offerings. Didn't try any food but I would recommend stopping by for drinks if you are looking for a new spot to try out. Our bartender was also incredibly friendly... More
