Nice dinner for our daughter's birthday

The "menu" is totally set and displayed on a big blackboard hung on the wall. We understood they change the "menu" everything two months. You can choose between meat, fish or veggie. The offered combinations are original. We all had the menu @ 42€ (4 course meal) which, considering the work put in the preparation is a fair deal. Service was decent and polite, not invasive.

Nice Modern Food

I was only here for lunch, but the ethos seems to be seasonal food with interesting taste and texture combinations. We were a small group and normally we wouldn't present a problem, but the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Between us we had differing dietary requirements and our questions were answered with thoughtfulness and understanding. We had booked a terrace table, but it was simply too hot outside, so we were moved inside without a problem. Inside is noisy, but it's a lunchtime restaurant! I liked my meal, I thought the starter ideal for this hot weather and enjoyed the main course. I plan to return in the evening to try their four course meal (photo attached). You should note that the lunchtime menu is not the same, although the deserts are. Oh, and I felt the restaurant was good value for money.

A pleasant culinary discovery in Brussels for an experience marked by simplicity. Offering a four-course menu at a reasonable price, this establishment stands out for its carefully mastered cuisine. The team, warm and welcoming, contributes to the friendly atmosphere. Although the room was a little noisy, it didn't really impact the quality of the moment. A visit from the chef in person at the end of the service adds a touch to this culinary experience.

Excellent unhurried lunch with friends.

Quite enjoyable multi course prix fix lunch with a group of friends. The owner/chef came out to chat with us, and he was genuinely interested and engaged. We also talked about wine, and, BTW, we were allowed to bring our own wine, few bottles from our friend's winery, to taste with very reasonable cork fee. Food was delicious, all the way from appetizer to dessert. It was also quite a departure from standard food and indifferent service places nearby. It wasn't inexpensive place, but not overly expensive, considering the quality of food, presentation, and service.

The young team is very welcoming and professional The cuisine left me perplexed by the great complexity of the elaborate dishes In my opinion, I perceived some dishes, such as the Creme Brulè Salata and the Tartre Fine Oignons Doux, to be a little disjointed and not very harmonious. Very good cuisine, service organization and staff training to improve.

We really enjoyed the cuisine. However, the room service could perhaps have been better managed. The first 3 services arrived in almost 2 hours which seemed way too long to us. The waiter who offered to advise us on wine, despite his good will, had no oenological knowledge and did not really know the menu. In addition, we were not offered the food/wine pairing that we discovered when hearing it mentioned by other customers.

Excellent food, very good service. We tried the scallops, the ousters, and the pork. All these dishes were exceptionally good, flavours, texture, and presentation. Portions are small, as the priority is clearly quality, and it really works. Good selection of qualiy wines. These people know how to cook, I see a Michelin star coming.

Yummy tasting menu

I booked this restaurant because I had never tried a tasting menu and wanted to try it! The staff were very friendly and I was able to sit in their terrace area! The food was delicious and there was a choice between vegetarian, meat and fish! The alcohol was also reasonably priced!

Good restaurant with few distinctive menus.

Good Belgian / French food in the middle of Brussels, close to major EU institutions. The ambient is OK, as well as service, however it felt a bit hectic (like not having enough staff). Food was good and tasty the offered wine as well. You have options to choose few menus but not really a-la-cart.

Very nice - but not quite as nice as it thinks it is

Origine offers a set menu of four courses, with two options (meat/fish or vegetarian) for each course. FOOD: a mixed bag. Some absolute bangers, including: the vegetarian starter (a sauerkraut confection that is much more complex and refined than it sounds); and the gioza/bisque second course (insanely lush depth of flavour - the best thing on the menu: bravo!). The main courses have notes of excellence but fail to convince entirely: the charred cabbage is truly sensational, but the rest of the veggie dish does not hit the same heights; the filet mignon is gorgeous, perfectly cooked with a rich jus, serviceable dauphinois-type potato and seared sprouts and carrot - but topped with a quenelle of tartare... WHY? I love a good tartare as much as the next person, but raw and cooked beef on the same plate are an abomination and against nature. Desserts: choice between ultra creamy but ultimately insipid goat's cheese, and an equally creamy and insipid panna cotta enlivenedcl with some nice citrus. accompanied by an unrelated but nicely tart dollop of bergamot sorbet on a splendid biscuit. WINE: a really nice, varied and unusual list, with a number of off-the-beaten track gems. But also some expensive misses among the hits... SERVICE: charming, attentive and efficient. OVERALL: Origine was pretty much full when we visited on a rainy, cold Tuesday evening in January. The place is clearly in demand and doing well, and all-in-all we had a very pleasant dining experience. But it's frankly also a little up itself: it's not that hard to produce a maximum of eight dishes (seven, if you don't count the cheese) - not all of all of them out of the top drawer - for 35-40 covers, Origine is good, but perhaps not quite as good as it thinks it is. And it's certainly not for the light of wallet....

Lunch acceptable but nothing to write home about

The 18 Euro lunch is for Brussels acceptable but it wasn't great. I had fish that was too soft, certainly defrozen. The service was friendly.

Decent Original Food

This is a nice restaurant with interesting combinations based on classic combinations. Wines are nice and interesting. The menu is limited but very fresh with a veggie option for starter, mAin course and dessert. Staff are friendly and efficient.

Great choice for great value

I had wanted to go to this restaurant for long time, as I read good reviews and was attracted by the good offer: 38 euros for 4 services is a steal! The food is high quality, well presented and cooked - it give a bit of stilish without being pretentious. The menu is not huge, but is well balanced, as for every of the 4 services (cold starter, hot starter, main, dessert) it offers 3 choices (meat, fish, veggie). The only downturn was the slow service, even if kind and attentive. But considering it was Valentine's days and the place was packed, I would not reduce the 5 starts for that!
