Good pub food, partner had the steak pie twice. Nice sitting out on the patio where the steam trains pass on the front. Ruswarp is a lovely village to stay in but don't tell everyone!

Stopped off after finding it on our walk from whitby. Really friendly staff and good drinks to choose from. The best bit is the beer garden over looking the river and train track. We saw the steam train come past. Really nice place and worth...More

There were four of us including 2 young kids. We chose this pub to eat, as they stay open serving food all day so we can eat early evening and put the kids to bed as usual. My wife and I had the seafood platter...More

A pleasant old-style pub serving 3 hand pump Theakston Ales, all kept in excellent condition. Has an outdoor seating area at the rear. Worth a visit if in the area.

I've only been here twice but each time I have been given a warm welcome. The food is good, especially the steak pie, and portions are generous. However, it would be nice to have something other than chips on offer. PS. Archie the dog concurs...More

We stopped off here for a meal as we were staying in Ruswarp. Great service and decent food. Although there isn't a play area the staff made us welcome with our toddler. We had a lovely time. Thank you.

Perhaps if you gave more details in the note in the window it may have helped explain the situation. You know, keep potential customers informed. Pointless telling me now someone has died (our condolences). I have never heard of a pub having to shut several days a week before and I'm in my 60s. Maybe if you recommended an alternative place to eat in you window note it would have helped. We were on holiday and did not know the area I gave it 2 stars as it just wasn't open, so how could I call that good service? How could I rate it any higher, I couldn't use the pub for most of the time we were there, and I thought stopping food at 5pm on Sunday was also poor service? You don't seem to have taken into account we were on holiday so knew nothing about the area, the pub was a selling point for the holiday accommodation and it would have only been any use to us for one night. You say 2 stars is unfair. What do you think I should give when I can't even use the place?

I am the owner. As previously stated theirs only so much info you can display in a window, this problem is totally out of my hands, I just found the 2 star rating out of order as you had not even stepped foot in the bridge... More
