dark building on a dark road. but a nice little French surprise. CASH only. ask the owners for recommendations and don't be surprised if their child is playing somewhere in the restaurant

We recently visited this restaurant while doing a motorcycle trip of Manitoulin Island and the Algoma Loop. On the referral of the motel we were staying at we walked over to this restaurant for a late Thursday night dinner. Even though the menu (on a chalk board as it changed often) seemed to have limited choices, the two meals we... More

Charming old building pretty close to the little marina. There was nice outdoor seating but I choose indoors because it was the kind of summer evening when windy storms keep popping up. It seemed to be a family operation, with the husband cooking and the wife waitressing, and various (flawlessly bilingual) kids wandering through the place needing Mom's attention, although... More

We ate at The Spirit of Manitoulin one night when we were staying in Manitowaning, Nice little restaurant, not too fancy but the food is fantastic and fancy wouldn't fit. It wasn't too busy the night we were there and we had a chance to visit with Genevieve and Matt even made and appearance from the kitchen. I had the... More

We ate there 2 nights in a row...the first night my husband and I both ate the BBQ Pork ribs and they were beyond delicious...fall off the bone and tasty! The chef was able to easily deal with my Celiac issues and I could safely eat a wonderful meal. The second night my husband ate pan fried trout and he... More

We were looking for the Musky Widow and it took us a while to figure out that it had a new name. nice pation, friendly staff, good food with a menue a little bit different from the usual dishes. We had chicken (a little salty), duck, vegetarian stir-fry, salad and it was all good.

Food experience that can't be missed. New name is "Spirit of Manitoulin". Chef MATHIEU serves scrumptious meals! Geneviève is a gracious host.

We stayed two nights and ate both nights at the Musky Windows, now called the Spirit of Manitoulin. Firstly, the owners, from Montréal, a husband and wife team are very welcoming and we felt like regular after those two nights. The chef, Matthieu, is passionate about his dishes and everything that we tried (lots of fish), was delicious. Veggies cooked... More

It's my understanding that the chef is wanting to get away from "fast" foods like pizza and hamburgers. When we went for dinner, tnose items where not even offered or on the menu. We were shown a menu with items prices from $22 upwards. Starving, and with no where else to ear AT ALL in the area (everything closes at... More

The restaurant, from the outside, looks a little dodgy but the food is very good. The inside is rustic and the service is reasonably fast and courteous and the meal is home-made and delicious. I had the hamburger and it was one of the best I have ever had. The decor is First Nations art work and it is worth... More
