Yummy yummy yummy! We ordered the pan fried haddock with baked potato and the meat pie. Both were delicious and plentiful. If you find yourself in a hurry just slow down....the service is friendly, conscientious and relaxing. This spot is one of my new favourites. Don't be put off by the location....it's not fancy but it feels relaxing and welcoming.

This place is great! My wife and I have eaten here numerous times since moving to Halifax. We have never been disappointed. The restaurant is a good size and simply decorated, but clean, hospitable and very homey. The food is really good comfort food, and they offer free soup with meals which my wife always loves. The prices are excellent... More

Family owned, fun place. Great for breakfast or for a light supper. There is not too much on the menu if you don't like seafood (a couple of Italian dishes). But my wife swears she had the best Fish & Chips ever (a huge piece of haddock, and that was the small serving). The owners come from Cape Breton, and... More

if you're ever in the Halifax, NS area, drive down the road a bit to eat here. Delicious, authentic Acadian food. Visit on a Sunday to enjoy a piece of Rappie Pie. Be sure to chat with the owner & cook Gary, a very nice guy and ask him about the history of his people, the Acadians.

Restaurant is located in the hotel premisses but not managed by the hotel. We had an excellent dinner and breakfast in the morning.

Lunch with friends was a real treat at this Cafe. The atmosphere was inviting and the server excellent. The menu offers many yummy items. A nice touch was a complimentary choice of 2 soups to wet your appetite. All items on the menu are homemade and, as all agreed, very good. The desserts were awesome...especially the Pouding Chomeur....and the Ginger... More

I sent my fish cake's back because they were burned. They made me another, witch I appreciated. Overall, the 7 members of my party were not happy.

Description
Café l’Acadie's owner Gary Le Blanc was born into a large Acadian family where both parents hail from the Acadian village of Cheticamp Nova Scotia area and with an enormous extended family, Acadian food, music and culture were the heartbeat of our family life. Our home was the 'gathering place' for friends and relatives. My mother loved to cook and growing up, I could sit for hours and listen to her sing all the old traditional Acadians songs as she scurried about the kitchen cooking. On special occasions, I would watch in amazement at the fiddlers, mandolin and guitar players sitting around the kitchen table, while the rest would sing out loud and strong, Acadian songs of old. With Fricot on the stove, Rappie and Rabbit Pies in the oven and desserts galore, it all fed the soul. Café l’Acadie brings many of these Acadian culinary treasures from my family's kitchen to our dining room to share this rich history of delicious food.
