We were visiting the beautiful town of Murten and chose this restaurant for a nice but relaxed evening meal for the two of us. Seeing the wine pairing menu we thought we would give it a go. What a wonderful culinary delight it was and...we were so pleased we decided to add the cheese course. Outstanding and friendly service too. I highly recommend this place.More

We broke for a lunch break at the beautiful medieval town of Murten and enjoyed an excellent meal here. The Cordon Bleu veal steak was yummy. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside oozing with Mt Vully cheese. My wife had the set lunch...menu which was a generous serving of cod and homemade pasta, while my daughter had the delicious sausage and rosti. Attentive and quick service, including a water bowl for our dog. Overall, highly recommended if you are driving from Zurich to Geneva.More

My wife and I are in the small Swiss tourism village of Murten, and went to dinner with the intention of having a no-big deal dinner, but a really good one. This restaurant has excellent food. We had a garden salad and each of us...had a pasta half dish. Each was a work of art - the salad had a wonderful medley, even though the Swiss growing seasons is over (now mid-Oct), and it was chopped beautifully. We would have been satisfied with just the garden salad for dinner it was so good. I had the spaghetti bolognese - no tomato sauce, a light creamy sauce with bits of delicious ham, and fresh peas. It was a work of art - I eventually had to put it aside - like the other side of the table - because I didn't want to eat too much, and it was so good I couldn't help myself if it was close. The restaurant was far better than I expected. The waitresses and the evening manager were "10"s on customer service and responsiveness. Go to this place - it already one of the top 3 restaurants in this town, it deserves an even better rating!More

Loved this restaurant. The manager was so sweet. I was taking pictures with my turtle that I take on travel and he took me into the kitchen to take photos. This place is all about service. They fold your napkin every time you leave. Had...the lamb curry. Amazing.More

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The owner greeted us warmly. We ordered our aperitifs and told him we would like to wait a few minutes before ordering our meal. My wife ordered a gin and tonic. It was recommended that she get Monkey 47 gin, which...we, being from the US, had no knowledge of. The tonic was Fever-Tree, another brand with which we were unfamiliar. My wife loved it, including the presentation which included a very long orange peel and a sprig of mint. Service was very appropriate as we ate our venison stew and pork “Cordon bleu”. Decor is refreshing with a modern flavor. The name comes from the former occupant of the space - a cheese factory. If we get back to Murten, we’ll eat here again.More

We went for dinner prior to the Murten Classics concert so we were eating early and relatively quickly. Service as usual was excellent: food was very well cooked and presented. We had ceviche of Kingfish, Tuna Carpaccio with Coquilles St Jacques followed by Sea Bream...and Féra. So where is the wrinle? Twofold. Firslty the Féra was served on a bed of vegetables which would be super in autumn or winter but a little too heavy for the delicate fish and certainly too heavy on a summer's evening. secondly one of us had a glass of Chasselas Cru de l'Hopitâl de la bourgeoisie de Morat as an apéritif. It was just what we needed so we ordered a bottle. What came was a 500ml bottle with a different name but which we were told was the identical wine. Frankly, I don't think it was. It was perfectly drinkable but the name on the label was totally different. Either I misunderstood something or I'm not sure what was going on.More

On the north side of the small town center, this restaurant has a lovely terrace away from the bustle of tourists and surrounded by potted grape vines. An oasis. I ordered the Tagesmenu of Cordon Bleu with a small green salad to start and sautéed...vegetables and frites. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The salad had a piquant but light dijonaise dressing and the vegetables were nicely spiced if a bit soft for my liking. The cordon bleu was crisp and a good balance of veal, ham and cheese. The waiter recommended a local Rose which complemented the meal well. 21.50 € (without the rose). I finished with a really well done espresso, that came with two light versions of the spiced treat common to German Switzerland. One of those lunches you don’t want to end.More

Our favourite address in Murten by far! We have been here 5 times right now and the experience was each and every time stable and on a high level. Even during rush hour. Nice modern ambiance in the restaurant with possibility to sit outside by...nice weather. Very friendly service with competent advice on menu choice. The wine card is clearly not from one or two standard suppliers as so often. It is made with love and competence. You often end up with a good talk about wines and what you would prefer. Aside the wines on the card, there are some treasuries in the cellar as well. The burger is the hit with the kids, the 4 or 5 course menu is the hit with the parents. Fresh products, innovative twists and always on taste. The details in decoration , sauces, dressings, etc make the difference here to rate it as a culinary experience on high level. Yes indeed I love it here. Every time again.More

We stayed in this restaurant for a weeding party with dinner. Very good dinner with five courses. Soupe with tried deer meat, fresh fish from the lake, entrecote with pommes frites, cheese and chocolate cake. Accompanied with selected wine. Service staff very friendly and attentive....Location has enough space for a band, dancefloor and tables for around 90 people. We are coming back!!!More

The host and hostess were beyond kind and accommodating. The host made sure to explain the menu in English to us, shared information about where all of the ingredients came from, and helped with our selection from wines to food. The food was superb- Kaserei...is in the Michelin Guide for a reason! It was a wonderful, polished dining experience. I highly recommend to anyone vacationing or dining in the area.More

She Who Will Be Obeyed took me out for my birthday. We had a table in the back room which means table cloths and a bit more privacy: the front of the restaurant around the bar is more of a bistro atmosphere. Whoever designed the...main restaurant knows nothing about sound deadening techniques. The room is rectangular with hard ceilings, floors and walls with only some cloth panels on part of the walls. The effect is that conversations bounce off the walls, ceilings and floors and raise the overall decibel level. Having got that out of my system, both the main dining room and the bistro are quite attractive, modern rooms. The à la carte menu is not extensive but we both chose the set menu which contained much that we like. The set menu is priced for three, four or five courses and you can choose from various tasting flights for the wines. The wine list is pretty extensive and not unreasonably priced for Switzerland, (which is to say its all on the expensive side). We selected to have the five course menu and the flive wne flight and we do not regret it. Service was excellent and friendly and the food, for the most part was very well prepared. We were disappointed in the fish course as we both like our fish to be close to underdone and this was a bitty squishy. The veal Saltimbocca was very good indeed. Next time we go and we will be back, we will forgo the cheese selection. It was all from the canton of Berne which probably reflects where many of their customers live and, unfortunately, did not do justice to what Swiss cheese really can be like. However, the undoubted highlight of the evening was the wine selection. The different wines were all served to us by one of the owners, (three of them bought the restaurant a few years ago). He happens to be German but speaks good French and good English. He speaks very enthusiastically and interestingly about his wines and chose a real mixture. We had Swiss, German and Spanish ranging from a wine near the Mosel in the North to a sweet wine from Malaga in the south by way of Switzerland (Vully); Galicia and the Duero area near Valladolid. For us the most interesting wine was a Swiss Pinot Grigio from across the lake in Vully: interesting because not only did it taste differently from any Pinot Grigio we had ever tasted before but that in April 2016 we were drinking a 2015 vintage! One of the reds, I think it was the Mencia was 2004 so we ranged a bit over the vintages. We were very glad we went that route and let him choose for us. Interestingly he selected a red wine for the fish course and it worked very well. All in all a very pleasant evening and one we hope to repeat. The dolorosa came to a little over CHF350 for two.More

The Kaserei is a really lovely restaurant in the lake town of Murten, Switzerland. I ordered the Marcos Burger, made from locally raised beef. The hamburger bun was made by the chef's father in a nearby bakery and unusual in that it was covered with...a variety of seeds, crusty on the outside, but fresh in. The meat was a bit on the rare side for me. The fries were sourced from a local farmer as well. It was a fresh meal and of good quality. Service was also attentive and helpful without being overdone. A very pleasant restaurant that filled as the evening progressed.More
