Love this place. Took my friends here for lunch, visiting from Canada and they loved it. We didn't book but luckily there was a table for 4. There was no hesitation in tasting a few of the ale's before deciding which one to have. We...More

We stopped here for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Lovely location and no need to book for tables outside. An imaginative Sunday lunch menu in addition to the traditional roasts.

I recently visited here with some 4 other family members, 3 of us are vegan, 1 is also gluten free. We were really impressed with the food as they have an entire menu for vegans with lots of options, as well as a gluten free...More

A hazy August evening. Just off a quiet country lane is a hostelry which encapsulates everything which is good about a British country pub. The building and decor are stylish yet traditional. Cream canopies over the large outside dining area. Greenery combines well with the...More

It was a pleasure to return to this place. We used to live in the area and since moving out of there we have seriously missed the Alford Arms, but we went on Friday lunch time, just to be delighted once again with excellent food,...More

Really cosy feel to the restaurant and bar area and a wonderful choice of food on the menu but for me the best bit was the Dairy free Menu and Gluten Free menu as I need both! I had a well informed waiter who made...More

Hi, the fire was very serious and the current estimate is that the Alford Arms will re-open at the end of August 2016 after a complete refurbishment of the trading floor and rebuild of the living accommodation - which is... More

A warm and welcoming country dining pub with open fire and muddy boots and dog friendly. People often describe the Alford as a gastro-pub, but we're not really comfortable with that tag. The term sounds too restauranty and cheffy. We've always wanted the Alford to be a great pub, where you just happen to be able to get great food. So tables in the dining room are available to book, but there's also the bar for drinkers with tables available on a first come, first served basis. The seasonal menu and daily specials balance originality with more traditional fare and we are firm believers in using local produce wherever possible. Hanging baskets and window boxes adorn the terrace and provide an alfresco dining area. Alongside is the village green and historic Ashridge Estate is right on our doorstep. Ramblers, dog walkers, bluebell admirers, mushroom foragers and cyclists regularly emerge from the surrounding countryside ready to combine their activity with a refreshing stop at the Alford Arms.
