About
A warm and welcoming country dining pub with open fire. Muddy boots welcome! People often describe the Alford as a gastro-pub, but we're not really comfortable with that tag. The term sounds too restauranty and cheffy. We've always wanted the Alford to be a great pub, where you just happen to be able to get great food. So tables in the dining room are available to book, but there's also the bar for drinkers with tables available on a first come, first served basis. The seasonal menu and daily specials balance originality with more traditional fare and we are firm believers in using local produce wherever possible. Hanging baskets and window boxes adorn the terrace and provide an alfresco dining

Great to find the Alford Arms joining the government's 'tenner off' deal. We would have gone anyway because the AA is such a lovely place tucked away, all but out of sight in beautiful countryside. The Covid menu is a bit limited, and the Frithsden...More

Our friends suggested the Alford Arms and it was a lovely place for a late lunch after driving supercars in the morning! The food was superb and service spot on too. The only downside for us was the very limited menu. I'm not sure if...More

We had lunch here with friends recently. It looked mostly like the usual menu and the food was very good as always. It all feels a little clinical though with tables not laid up and staff having to wear masks. Guess we'll have to get...More

Great place for a quality dinner set in an informal but pleasant gastropub setting. The service was first class too, and the food was lovely. The bar had some good ales, while the wine list was also decent.

We've been here a number of times over the last few years but the food seems to have gone downhill. Given that it is quite expensive it is not good enough. My fish (pollock) was dry and overcooked as was my potatoes. I had a...More

We spent a lovely time with our friends and their kids in the Alford Arms. The food was superb, the ambiance amazing and the staff friendly and really service oriented. This is English countryside and hospitality as it should be. We will come back.

This is a pretty pub, food is fairly good. However, the pub gets very busy and service rather slow. It's worth a visit but you may not want to go in the height of summer.
