Visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon and sat outside.Staff very accommodating with me wanting to change tables. We had the set 2 course menu for £12.95 which included a glass of wine which is excellent value for money. Food was good and we all had empty plates when finished.Only moan is that the table was a bit small for 4... More

We visited with friends for dinner. The soup, other starter & French fries were good but we did not think much of the lamb koftas. The deserts were oversweet. RMR

This used to be a derelict art deco cinema but was famously returned to use on the back of the fforts of a section of the community returning as a restaurant cum cocktail bar, smaller community cinema and set of flats from which someone profited handsomely. The Gatsby is an attractive place for an expensive drink. The restaurant has varied... More

This is a stylish place to eat being a tasteful conversion (no pun intended) of the foyer of a former period cinema. The staff are plentiful, polite and prompt with their service. The menu is recognisable as representative of what we have come to expect at the moment but the food quality is good and well presented. Even though the... More

My husband and I tried to pop into the Gatsby after a cinema matinee. Unfortunately at this time they di not do food and were unhappy to allow me to eat a biscuit sat in the empty bar when I explained that I was diabetic and having a low blood sugar. I was asked to leave-when my husband found me... More

I went for dinner at The Gatsby last weekend after hearing rave reviews from various friends and family. The food and service was exceptional which was complimented with a wonderful atomosphere and a great cocktail menu! A very memorable evening and I can't wait to go back again!

On Saturday after having seen a film at the Rex with friends, we thought it would be nice to visit the Gatsby for a cocktail before going on elsewhere for dinner. We went up to the bar ordered drinks and sat down inside - we did this several times. Then a table became available outside so we decided to move... More

Pretentious, to say the least! Allowed to walk through the door with said bouncer, welcoming us in, once spent over £100 on a couple of rounds, so not cheap, we moved outside to finish our drinks! Said bouncer was rude about dress sense in front of everyone, embarrassed my husband & me. Spoilt my birthday, if there is a dress... More

We went here for an 18th birthday meal back in July, I was a bit. Worried when I noticed there was only one other couple in the restaurant, normally a sign that the food may not be great. We ordered, I had the chicken dish and others had the steak. The chicken was the best I have ever had, melt... More

I have visited The Gatsby many times, for jazz brunch, lunch and dinner and have had their pre-cinema menu, and I have never been disappointed. The food is always delicious and beautifully presented, the service is always good and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. Jazz brunches are great and the special events they host, like Caribbean evenings, have always... More
